Child Rights and You
CRY works to ensure happier childhoods for India's children! Our children are our country’s future.
Let’s invest in their potential today, so that they can become our scientists, politicians, sportspeople, journalists and teachers of tomorrow.

A huge thank you to 91.9 Friends FM, Mr. Arijit Mandal, and RJ Nilanjana for their incredible and continued support in taking the message of child rights to countless listeners. Amplifying voices for children starts with strong allies, and radio has been a powerful catalyst in building wider awareness!
As part of the Red Card to Child Labour campaign, we had Trina Chakraborty (Director - East, Volunteer Engagement & IT, CRY) who shared that ending child labour is a shared responsibility. It requires communities, systems, and individuals to stand together and ensure that children are where they belong: in schools, not workplaces.
Through this radio feature, we are pushing for urgent action and equal opportunities for every child to learn, play, and thrive. Because every child deserves a fair chance: not a life of labour, but a lifetime of learning.
Let’s listen, speak up, and act together. 🛑🧒✨

🚫⚽ Red Card to Child Labour
This World Day Against Child Labour, communities, children, local leaders, employers, and government departments came together across states to reaffirm one simple truth: every child deserves a childhood, not a workplace.
In Bhopal, CRY collaborated with the Labour Department to raise a symbolic red card against child labour as part of the ongoing ILO campaign.
In Pratapgarh, awareness activities were conducted with children and community members in collaboration with Gram Panchayats, while a bike rally and signature campaign at the district headquarters, organised with the Police Department, amplified the call to end child labour.
In Haryana, the campaign began in Gurugram through community engagement activities led by local leaders. Teams also visited factories to sensitise owners and workers on child labour laws, children’s rights, and the importance of education, while documenting cases requiring follow-up support and rehabilitation.
Together, let’s continue raising a red card to child labour and building a future where every child can learn, grow, and thrive.

We read the label for wash care instructions.
Check the blend to see if it’s pure cotton.
Look for the right fit before heading to the counter.
But do we ever ask if child labour was involved?
Child labour often hides in plain sight, in places we visit every day and moments we rarely think twice about.
Here are a few ways in which we can do our bit:
•Learn more about how and where products are made.
•Support brands and businesses committed to ethical sourcing and labour practices.
•Stay informed about industries where child labour remains a concern.
•Report child labour at PENCIL.gov.in if you come across a child working where they shouldn't be.
This World Day Against Child Labour, look beyond what’s on a tag.
Because ending child labour doesn’t begin with a single big action. It begins with noticing.
One question. One choice. One conscious step at a time.

At Churchgate Station, Mumbai, we borrowed football’s clearest signal against unfair play.
The red card: 🟥
As part of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) global Red Card to Child Labour campaign, commuters came together to raise a red card to child labour and stand up for every child’s right to learn, play and dream.
At CRY, we work with communities to prevent child labour, help children return to school, and ensure they can reclaim their right to a safe and happy childhood.
A heartfelt thank you to Western Railway for standing with us against child labour 💛

When children become changemakers, the impact takes root. 🌱✨
Our children from Bhopal and Andhra Pradesh showed us what a greener tomorrow can look like when young minds are given the chance to lead.
Whether it was planting seeds of change, reimagining waste, beautifying their surroundings, or sparking conversations around climate action, they turned small actions into meaningful steps for the future. More importantly, they discovered that their voices, ideas, and efforts have the power to make a difference.
At CRY, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to participate, lead, and shape the world around them.
Because the strongest solutions grow when children are part of creating them. 💛

We check reviews before ordering food.
Read ingredients before buying snacks.
Compare ratings before spending money.
But do we ever ask if child labour was involved?
Here are a few ways in which we can do our bit:
• Report child labour at PENCIL.gov.in if you see a child working somewhere they shouldn't be.
• Look for the GoodWeave label when buying rugs and carpets.
• Choose Fairtrade-certified tea and coffee whenever possible.
• Pay close attention to products and services linked to industries where child labour is known to be prevalent, such as agriculture, brick kilns, carpet weaving, garment production, mining, roadside eateries, waste picking, and domestic work.
And sometimes, ask the simplest question of all: "Why is this child working here?"
One question. One choice. One conscious step at a time

Periods are a fact of life. Talking about them should be too.
On Menstrual Hygiene Day, around 70 girls and boys came together at CRY-supported centres in Bisarakh, Uttar Pradesh, to learn, ask questions, and challenge myths around menstruation.
Through a fun Myth & Fact Box activity and open conversations, children explored menstrual health and hygiene in a safe, supportive space. Because when children have the right information, they can help break stigma and build a more informed future for everyone.
Every conversation counts

“Shame and silence create infections, not periods.”
When Aarti got her first period, she was scared. Growing up in a remote Sahariya tribal community in Madhya Pradesh, menstruation was never spoken about openly, only surrounded by silence, restrictions, and myths.
But through CRY’s intervention, Aarti gained access to the right information, support, and menstrual hygiene resources. Slowly, fear turned into confidence.
Today, the 16-year-old openly speaks about menstrual hygiene and dignity with other girls in her community, encouraging them to replace myths with awareness and silence with conversation.
Because when girls have the right information, they don’t just grow up healthier, they grow up stronger. ❤️

A question asked by adolescent girls during a menstrual health session in Delhi led to a nationwide directive across India. 💫
The concern was simple: what happens when periods arrive during board exams?
For years, girls silently managed the stress of long examination hours without assured access to sanitary pads. But this time, their voices reached beyond the classroom.
Supported through CRY’s intervention, the issue was taken to the Ministry of Education, resulting in a nationwide advisory directing educational boards across India to ensure sanitary pad availability during board examinations.
Drop a ❤️ in the comments if you believe every girl deserves dignity, comfort, and confidence during exams.

Every child deserves a safe childhood and a joyful learning experience. 🌸📚
Today, on International Missing Children’s Day, we organized a special joint program and a Learning Festival in Sandmaria village, located in the tribal area of Kotra block, Udaipur district. The event brought together a wonderful community of 105 children and parents!
Here is the day at a glimpse:
🛡️ Child Safety Awareness: We conducted deep-dive sessions with parents and villagers to raise awareness about child safety, fundamental child rights, and the critical importance of the Child Helpline- 1098.
🎯 Learning Festival: Children participated in various learning activities. The energy was incredible, and it was beautiful to see their enthusiasm toward learning through games!
At the grassroots level, securing a child's future means balancing protective awareness with the pure joy of education. Thank you to the community of Kotra for holding space for such joy.
