Advantages Of Using LED Display Monitors
November 11th, 2012 ITnews

Ever since the day ray tube monitors started to decline, LCD monitors have taken over the market for computer monitors and televisions. LED monitors, however, are believed to be potentially a better option if you are in the search for a new television or computer monitor. There are a lot of LED monitors available at Bai LED.

Because of the fact that LED monitors are made up of diodes instead of the usual fluorescent lights that LCD monitors have, there are a lot of advantages that would guarantee LED monitors to be a better investment.

Longer Life-span – It is important to note that the fluorescent lights that consists an LCD monitor have lifespan of three to five years. It’s rather short if you ask me. Eventually your display becomes dimmer than when you first bought your computer or television. Fluorescent lights depreciate faster and what’s worse is that monitors are not intended for trouble-free replacement in cases when the light fails. If your monitor starts to dim, you wouldn’t have any choice but to buy a brand new one. LED lights however last way longer. Its lifespan can last up to 100,000 hours of constant usage that’s 10x longer than fluorescent lights that could only last up to 10,000 hours.

Size – Because LED monitors use diodes, they come in smaller packages – thinner and lighter. Fluorescent bulbs can make a monitor more bulky and hefty because they are heavily designed. In addition to that, LED Monitors that are lit on the sides are even more sleek and light than LED backlit monitors. They are easier to manage in cases when you need to transfer your monitor to another location.

Picture Quality – safe to say LED monitors can outperform LCD monitors any day in terms of picture quality and resolution especially in the aspects of color intensity and motion blurring. Research says that LCD monitors usually have a downside in motion blurring, that is when the image you see on screen blurs in times where there is faster motion. Colors are more vibrant in LED monitors because it has a higher color gamut and contrast ratio than LED monitors.

Environmentally Friendly – LED monitors use less wattage than LCD monitors. Because of this, you can save up money especially with your electricity bills. This can be a very valuable feature in the long run. Along with this, saving energy can also help our environment. Imagine when all individuals switch to LED monitors, I’m sure it would make quite a big of a difference.

New wireless network world record: 40Gbps over 1km, using EHF 240GHz

Researchers at the Fraunhofer Institute and Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany have successfully transmitted 40 gigabits per second over a one-kilometer (0.62 miles) wireless link. The technology, dubbed Millilink, is the same speed as the fastest commercial fiber optic links, and could represent a major breakthrough for carrier backbones, broadband internet access in rural areas, and ultra-fast last mile access for customers who haven’t had fiber rolled out to their house.

Microsoft unveils Xbox One home entertainment system...

Microsoft Corp. unveiled its new Xbox One, an all-in-one gaming and home entertainment system at its headquarters in Redmond, Wash. Tuesday morning

Turning on the device with the phrase "Xbox on," executives said they emphasized simplicity in the new device that puts the technology "behind the curtain."

The new device, which allows users to switch from gaming to television to Internet with voice commands. It also lets customers use Skype with their living room televisions and will have 15 exclusive game titles.

The Xbox One will have 8 gigabytes of memory, with an updated controller and new-generation Kinect sensor that communicates a user's voice and gesture commands to the console. The technology is built on the Xbox operating system and the kernel of Windows software to handle Internet-based content.

The new console will offer exclusive National Football League content and eight new game franchises, executives said. Also, director Steven Spielberg will be creating a premium television series based on Microsoft's blockbuster sci-fi game "Halo" for the Xbox One.

"This is the beginning of truly intelligent TV," a Microsoft executive said Tuesday.

Microsoft is hoping the newly named Xbox One will build on a solid core of gamer fans and become a hub for living room entertainment.

The third-generation console, coming eight years after the Xbox 360. It will chiefly compete with Nintendo Co.'s new Wii U and Sony Corp.'s forthcoming PlayStation 4 for a bigger slice of the $65 billion-a-year computer game market.

But the world's largest software company also sees it as a broader strategic piece in the battle with Apple Inc., Google Inc. and others to control consumer entertainment in the age of tablets and smartphones.

Microsoft's stock was off 5 cents at $35.03 in afternoon trading on Nasdaq.

Console sales have been in decline for the last four years, chiefly because of aging devices, but the first of the new generation of machines has not reignited the sector.

Nintendo's Wii U, launched in November, had sold only 3.45 million units through the end of March, well below the company's initial forecast of 5.5 million. Hopes for Sony's PS4, teased in March, are low key.
