🚨 Fake Listing Claims ₹900 Crore Bandra Church Property Is Up for Sale

A fresh fake property listing claiming that the Jesuit-owned Retreat House near Bandstand is available for sale has triggered concern among church authorities and community groups, who have confirmed that the land is not for sale.

The viral advertisement describes the Kane Road property as a ₹900 crore deal, citing land records, plot measurements and its location behind Mannat to appear legitimate. The listing also asks prospective buyers to submit a letter of intent, identity documents and proof of funds.

Activist Godfrey Pimenta has written to the Maharashtra government and Mumbai Police, seeking action against those responsible for circulating the advertisement.

Church representatives have termed the listing "fraudulent" and "mischievous", reiterating that the Retreat House remains under Jesuit ownership and continues to serve its intended community purpose. The incident has also revived concerns over a series of fake sale claims involving prominent church-owned properties in Bandra and along the Bandstand-Carter Road belt in recent years.

Authorities are being urged to trace the source of the listing and prevent similar misuse of church property records in the future.

BANDRA TALAO SET FOR A MAJOR REVAMP

A ₹15.6 crore rejuvenation project is underway at Bandra Talao, marking one of the most significant restoration efforts undertaken at the historic water body in recent years.

The lake has been emptied as desilting work begins, the first phase of a project aimed at improving water quality and reviving the ecosystem after years of deterioration.

Future works will include upgrades to the promenade, improved public amenities and the installation of a 1 MLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) to help prevent stagnation and maintain water quality.

With an estimated completion timeline of 18 months, the project seeks to restore a landmark that has remained an integral part of Bandra's identity for generations.

Bandra West could soon be home to a dedicated 130-bed cancer hospital as the BMC plans to expand specialised healthcare access across Mumbai’s western suburbs.

According to civic officials, the proposed facility will bring advanced oncology treatment closer to patients, reducing dependence on major South Mumbai hospitals like Tata Memorial Hospital, which sees an overwhelming inflow of patients from across India.

Officials believe the suburban cancer hospital could significantly improve timely access to affordable care while helping decentralise Mumbai’s specialised medical network beyond South Mumbai.
