Throughout my 45 years in this highly dynamic and ever-evolving field of Infrastructure Project Logistics, I have seen that, in a country like India, ownership of transport hardware has become the raison d'etre to survive.

Those entities that can show proof of ownership are given preference by existing clients when it comes to cheek-by-jowl competition.

Two decades ago, ownership of Hydraulic Axle Trailers was the first moving force in this direction.

The Ministry of Road Transport, GOI, under the most able and dynamic leadership of Senior Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari, deftly handled the subject of ensuring that heavy cargo transport was given a special status, thereby bringing in critical safeguard measures.

What was considered as an also-ran industry, for more than 60 years, was given one of the most important statuses in the last 15.

This was possible, only, because of Shri Gadkari's enthusiasm and focused directives to the Bureaucracy.

Of course, this, coupled with our beloved Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi's directives on Make-in-India and Aatmanirbhar Schemes, gave a new impetus to the lifeline industry of India.

Yet, what we are lacking is investments in Marine equipment for Ultra Heavy Cargo and for the Offshore Industry. Indian players are few and far between in this game-changing asset class; the most important reason being high capital costs.

The GOI should consider looking at this in a broader perspective by introducing special financing facilities as well as Tax breaks for such investors.

We successfully executed a port-to-port shipment of ~2,000 CBM for a power plant project in Indonesia, comprising 4 Engines and 4 Alternators shipped from the load ports in Europe to the designated discharge port in Indonesia.

Key highlights of the operation:

- Detailed engineering for oversized and heavy equipment

- Time-critical planning and precise coordination

- Synchronization of multi-origin cargo movements

- Deployment of a heavy-lift vessel within a tight laycan window

With on-time delivery, zero incidents, and complete client satisfaction, the project objectives were achieved flawlessly.

Moving a 311 MT Water Flash Drum for One of the Largest Petroleum Refinery in India

At Total Movements, every Project tells a story.

This one was about moving a 311 MT Water Flash Drum, spread over 3,200+ FRT, to one of the largest petroleum refineries in India - a task that demanded more than just logistics. It required resilience, precision, and the collective spirit of everyone involved.

From the supplier’s factory to the refinery foundation, this drum travelled by road, by barge, and through challenging terrain. Our scope covered:

- Road movement to the nearest jetty
- Rolling the drum safely onto a barge
- Coastal transport to the closest port near the refinery
- Final inland delivery and placement on its foundation

This wasn’t a routine move. It tested our planning, adaptability, and calmness under pressure.

- Heavy monsoon rains and foul weather pushed us to strengthen safety protocols
- Tidal limitations at both ports demanded precise timing
- MWS approvals needed thorough preparation and coordination
- Road infrastructure challenges and ODC restrictions required route intelligence and careful ex*****on

And through it all, our teams ensured that every moment of the journey stayed safe and on schedule

Against the odds, the flash drum reached its destination smoothly, safely, and right on time.
