Coming up on 9th May 2026:
The Steam, The Leaf, and The Soul: Reliving Elai Vadam (Rice Papadam) with Santripti
There is a specific, fleeting magic that exists only in a South Indian kitchen during the peak of summer. It’s the moment the heavy lid of the steamer is lifted, releasing a fragrant cloud of spiced rice batter steam.
Before the sun claims them, and before the hot oil transforms them into crackling crisps, there is the freshly steamed Elai Vadam.
Pre-order and delivery only in Chembur
Reviving the simpler times. The delicious Elai Vadaam - a familiar summer staple in every home, in an Evening Tiffin avatar.

VEN PONGAL
A typically hearty breakfast of rice and lentils. This simple variant of khichdi, is the perfect start for a busy day. Packed with carbs and proteins and just the right amount of fat in the ghee tadka (tempering). A surefire way to keep you energized through the day.
This delicious dish brings back fond memories of the 80's, as we grew up in a suburb of Mumbai. Our Periappa (Appa's elder brother, in Tamil) who was a doctor, used to love the Ven Pongal made by our Amma. In those days there was no telephone at our place and yet, call it sheer telepathy, or brotherly affection, but Periappa would always drop in just before he went to his clinic in the evening (although our home was a detour from his route). The joy of having our favorite tiffin used to be doubled on seeing our beloved Periappa!
Our Amma liked the Santripti version of her awesome Ven Pongal.
Hope Periappa approves of our creation of this simple soul food too!

PULI AVAL literally translates into Tamarind Poha.
But the translation does not do justice to this absolutely lip smacking tiffin dish that is bursting with flavor and texture.
The fried peanuts and Thair Molagai (curd and spice marinated chillies) add crunch, spice and a gentle sweetness to a simple dish, elevating its appeal by several notches.
The coconut chutney made with a slightly different recipe (which is my Paati's secret formula) complements and completes the meal perfectly!
Have you tasted this before?

Our traditionally unique snack for today -
UPMA KOZHAKATAI
With ginger and buttermilk based arachukalaki (chutney) and a tangy sambar.
Dunk the soft, crumbly kozhakatais in a bowl full of sambar and dip into the arachukalaki for a burst of flavors on your palate. We promise you will not be able to stop yourself at one bite!
A labour intensive dish, these steamed rice dumplings (kozhakatai) involve hand-pounding the rice grains to just the right size, and cooking them twice - yes, twice - alongwith yellow lentils and spices. Cooking them is an art in itself as they have to be steamed just right - a little less and they would be pasty, a little more and they might turn too hard. You want them to crumble at the slightest touch, and thats the right way to do it...
Healthy, filling and absolutely satisfying... are you getting one of these boxes for your evening snack today????

This was a long pending dream and passion. Being a TamBrahm, brought up in Mumbai, I have always wanted to introduce the world to some of the lesser known, but immensely tasty dishes from the South.
Cooking has been a passion for me - is an understatement. I love creating traditional food items with particular attention to every single detail. It is this love and passion that you will enjoy and relish with every single bite of Santrupti foods.
We hope you find them soul satisfying, just as we do!
