दसरा किंवा विजयादशमी हा हिंदू धर्मातील एक महत्त्वाचा सण आहे. हा सण आश्विन शुद्ध दशमीला साजरा केला जातो. नवरात्री संपल्यानंतरचा हा दहावा दिवस आहे.

या दिवशी प्रभु श्रीरामांनी रावणाचा वध करून सत्य व धर्माचा विजय केला अशी मान्यता आहे. त्यामुळे या दिवशी सत्याचा, सद्गुणांचा आणि धर्माचा अधर्मावर विजय झाला म्हणून “विजयादशमी” असे नाव देण्यात आले आहे.

दसर्‍याच्या दिवशी लोक सोनं (आपट्याची पानं) एकमेकांना देतात व “सोने लुटा, सोने वटवा” असे म्हणतात. हे पान सोन्यासारखे मौल्यवान समजले जाते आणि सुख-समृद्धीचे प्रतीक मानले जाते.

Dahi Handi is a joyful and energetic festival celebrated mainly in Maharashtra and some parts of India as part of Janmashtami, which marks the birth of Lord Krishna.

✨ Meaning & Significance:
• Lord Krishna, in his childhood at Gokul, loved butter and curd (dahi). He used to steal it from pots hung high in houses.
• To protect their butter, villagers began hanging pots (handis) from ceilings or tall poles. Krishna and his friends would form human pyramids to reach and break them.
• This tradition is re-enacted during Janmashtami as Dahi Handi, symbolizing teamwork, courage, and devotion to Krishna.

🎉 How It’s Celebrated:
• A clay pot (handi) filled with curd, butter, ghee, milk, fruits, or sweets is hung high in the air.
• Groups of young men, called Govindas, form large human pyramids to reach and break the handi.
