Today marks the 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and perhaps never before has he felt this relevant.
In a time of noise, division, aggression and shrinking humanity, his words still remind us of compassion, freedom of thought, dignity, culture and coexistence.
It's time to embrace his words, his work, his vision more genuinely, truthfully. 🙏

🌼On 8th of March, we celebrate the many shades of strength that make TAS what it is.

From our training programs where women learn skills and build independence, to Shohaag, where creativity and craftsmanship find their voice, to The Ajambari Tales, where every candle carries a story of resilience and warmth, our journey has always been shaped by women.

The spirited women of TAS, the grassroots fighters who challenge every barrier with courage and the beautiful souls who stood beside us with trust and support, this day belongs to all of you.

Here’s to women who create, who struggle and who nurture, lead, light the path for others.

NOTE- Yet on this Women’s Day, we cannot ignore the reality around us. In a country where women still face extreme violence in and outside houses, deep insecurities and inequalities, gets r***d everyday, celebrations mostly seem futile. Our hope is that the strength of women at the grassroots continues to challenge this reality, until dignity, safety, and justice are not aspirations but true in the real world.

🌻🌼 With immense pleasure, we are announcing a new collaboration between *TAS* and *Asha Jyothi* .🌼🌻

Asha Jyothi is a non-profit social organization working towards livelihood development and empowerment of underserved communities through skill-building and sustainable support systems.

The first phase of our collaboration was marked with Asha Jyothi Pennsylvania Unit's support with essential machines for our Tailoring and Stitching unit in Siliguri. And we couldn't be more grateful for this meaningful support. 😇

Beyond this, they have assured continued involvement—observing our work with new beneficiaries, guiding the process, and standing alongside us as we move forward. This is just the beginning.😇

This collaboration was formally announced today at the certification ceremony of beneficiaries who successfully completed Tailoring and Stitching Training conducted by TAS, in collaboration with Reach India Trust, held at the Siliguri Shohaag store/workshop.

The ceremony marked not just the completion of training, but the start of a more empowered and self-reliant journey for our beneficiaries.

We look forward to building meaningful impact together through shared commitment and collective effort.

⭐🌸TAS is currently mentoring a Designer Candle Making Workshop for the enthusiastic young women of Hantapara Tea garden area of Alipurduar district. This wonderful workshop is organised by ADIVASI UTTHAN MULTIPURPOSE CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY.

Saroja Chhetri and Khusboo Sharma, the very efficient trainers of The Ajambari Tales (a TAS Initiative) are sharing their expertise, guiding and training these girls to upgrade their skills to become self reliant. These women are really keen to learn and full of potential. All they need is a helping hand. TAS is honoured to be associated with this initiative.

Training with 25 women from marginalised backgrounds in the Bagrakote Slum area in association with Reach India Trust, has been a meaningful journey for us at TAS. Today is their exam day, and watching them put their newly learned skills to the test will be a proud moment for us.

Some of them have truly surprised us with their dedication. Many shared how they want to use this skill to build a stronger future for their families, especially to support their children’s education. Hearing their stories, their struggles, and their hopes has made this entire effort feel even more significant.

For us at TAS, the real work begins after the training ends. Handholding, guiding, and standing by them as they take their next steps.That is where our heart truly lies. We are already in the process of new ideas to make this initiative sustainable and impactful.

From this batch, we have chosen the 8 most sincere and hardworking women to begin their internship with us next week. We’re excited, hopeful, and deeply moved to be part of their journey forward.

At TAS, our association with tribal women has been a privilege.
We have witnessed their artistry that springs from the soil, their resilience in the face of challenges, and their generosity in sharing traditions that are their lifeblood.

Every weave, every carving, every melody they create carries centuries of history, and a dignity that humbles us.
On this day, we honour their spirit, their culture, and their place at the heart of humanity’s story.

May the world learn from their harmony with nature, their strength, and their grace.

🍀Evaluation Visit to TAS 🍀
Empowering Women Through Tailoring Training.
Today marked a meaningful step in our journey as we welcomed the evaluation team to TAS, reviewing the ongoing tailoring training program for 25 resilient women from the slum areas of Siliguri Corporation.

This initiative is not just about skill-building, it’s about dignity and self reliance

We are deeply grateful to Reach India Trust for their invaluable collaboration and support in making this program possible.

A dynamic 4-day leadership course is currently underway at the Kalimpong Centre for Cooperative Management, conducted by the West Bengal State Cooperative Union. Today marks Day 3 of the training program. We are glad to have the entire team at TAS Workshop, Sindebong today. Our efficient beneficiaries are very happy to demonstrate and share the dry flowers and candle making process with the team.

Board members from five tea garden cooperatives are actively participating in this session.
What makes this initiative inspiring is that most cooperative members are women, each involved in various entrepreneurial ventures in their respective tea gardens.

🌼 Bandapani Cooperative – Engaged in organic fertilizer business
🌼 Adivasi Utthan Cooperative – Producing bricks and running vegetable businesses
🌼 Madhubagan Cooperative – Involved in cloth retail, organic fertilizer, and mushroom cultivation

We are also happy to share that members from the Adivasi Utthan unit of Huntapara garden will soon undergo candle-making training with our support.
