The Medical College Students' Union (MCSU) and the entire MCK family mourn the untimely passing of our beloved final-year student, Soham Basak.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, classmates, and all who had the privilege of knowing him during this difficult time.

May his memories continue to live on through the lives he touched, and may his loved ones find strength and comfort.

NEET 2026 has become a symbol of administrative failure and broken trust. The repeated allegations of paper leaks, mismanagement, and lack of transparency have exposed the complete incompetence of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the authorities responsible for protecting students’ futures.

Lakhs of aspirants spent years sacrificing sleep, peace, and childhood for this examination, only to witness this sort of chaos and uncertainty.

An exam that decides the future of India’s doctors cannot be treated like a careless experiment. The silence, delayed action, and weak accountability from the government have raised serious questions about the credibility of the entire system. Students asked for fairness in return they were handed with stress, confusion, and betrayal.

The Medical College Students’ Union strongly demands the immediate release of the Re-NEET examination dates to end the uncertainty and mental distress faced by lakhs of aspirants across the country. We also urge the government to take strict and decisive action by transferring the conduct of the examination to a competent and credible agency other than this failed NTA.

The future of medical aspirants cannot be compromised due to institutional incompetence and lack of accountability.

Today, the interns, PGTs and general students of the college submitted this deputation to the MSVP and demanded immediate resolution to the issues at hand that are affecting patient care at MCH Kolkata.

Namely -

1) Immediately repair/replace ABG machines - ER, MCH 1st MCH 2nd, CB Top
2) Immediate repair of MCH building lift which is non-functional since 1 week
3) Immediate repair MCH 2nd floor bathroom dysfunctional since 2 months
4) Immediate repair of Emergency Doctors' Room AC non-functional since 2 weeks
5) Address unavailability of Inj Albumin
6) Immediately repair Infusion Pumps which are dysfunctional in MCH building.

The MSVP of our college has accepted that the issues will be resolved immediately.

Medical College Students' Union shall continue to fight for ensuring uncompromised quality health care service to the patients.
