How reliable is this digital world? It is a serious question, to for each of us to ask ourselves, before we start storing our personal memories and other stuff in the cloud. Of all you know just like the cloud in the real world, the cloud can vanish or get merged with other clouds or become invisible!!!! This is not a story or hypothesis. This is reality – Net4India the largest domain company in India just folded off and left its customer in the mid sea without even a log to float on!!! Some of the domains that were hosted by Net4India got transferred to Network Solutions, LLC and American company with even informing the customer. Now the customer who had registered a domain with Net4India in 2002, and regularly renewing, is left with no website, and emails not working. Network Solutions, LLC does not have an office in India and the only way to touch base with them is via online chat during EST times. The online chat representative’s final solution to the customer is to contact their Sales division at a US no. (international Call). They do have an email to which one can write and nobody responds. Even ICAAN who had actually moved our domain to Network Solutions, LLC is least interested finding a solution, when we registered a complaint with them. I am sure that this is not a one-off case and there are many other folks who are in a similar situation. By the way I missed adding there is an alternate solution, the customer can bid and buy back the domain back for a hefty sum!!! If this is the plight of an organisation, what chance does an individual have????
