Anti-Drug Awareness Efforts Recognized

Jammu, June 22 : Voice of Humanity and Women Safety NGO has been recognized as the first organization in Jammu and Kashmir to actively organize anti-drug awareness seminars across various districts and communities, playing a significant role in supporting the administration's efforts to combat drug abuse.

Since its inception, the organization has conducted numerous awareness programmes, seminars, and public outreach campaigns aimed at educating youth, students, parents, and community members about the harmful effects of drug addiction. These initiatives have been organized in collaboration with educational institutions, social organizations, and local stakeholders to promote a drug-free society.

The organization has also extended its support to district administrations and law enforcement agencies at various places across Jammu and Kashmir by participating in awareness campaigns and community engagement programmes. Through these efforts, Voice of Humanity and Women Safety has contributed to strengthening public awareness and encouraging collective action against the growing menace of substance abuse.

Representatives of the organization stated that the fight against drugs requires a united approach involving government agencies, civil society, educational institutions, and families. They reaffirmed their commitment to continue working towards youth empowerment, women's safety, social welfare, and the eradication of drug abuse from society.

The organization appealed to citizens, especially young people, to stay away from narcotic substances and actively participate in awareness initiatives to build a healthier and safer future for Jammu and Kashmir.

Joint Director Employment, Jammu Conducts Comprehensive Review of Mission YUVA Progress in Kishtwar

Kishtwar, June 20

Joint Director Employment, Jammu, Sh. Paramjeet Singh (JKAS), today visited the Small Business Development Unit (SBDU), Kishtwar, and chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of Mission YUVA and other employment initiatives being implemented in the district.

During the meeting, the Joint Director reviewed the performance of all key indicators under Mission YUVA and emphasized the need to sustain the momentum achieved so far and ensure that all interventions translate into viable and sustainable livelihood opportunities for unemployed youth.

A detailed branch-wise review of banking performance was also conducted. Stressing the importance of timely disposal of cases, he directed the SBDU and BHD members to clear all pending verifications within the prescribed timelines.

He further instructed the representatives of J&K Bank and BHD Leads to ensure that all cases pending with banks for more than 30 days are resolved within ten days through close coordination and regular follow-up.

While reviewing the Hybrid Entrepreneurship Training Programmes, the Joint Director directed the SBDU to ensure the enrollment of all disbursed beneficiaries who have not yet completed the mandatory hybrid training course within one week to facilitate the timely release of the first subsidy tranche.

He also instructed the Enterprise Development Expert to ensure the prompt submission of Work-in-Progress and Completion Reports.

The Joint Director also reviewed the ongoing Udyam Jagriti 5.0 Campaign and directed Block Programme Managers to intensify the mobilization of SHG women and Lakhpati Didis for entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

He further instructed BHDs to effectively utilize Motivators for identifying and mobilizing potential entrepreneurs from their respective Panchayats under Mission YUVA.

During the review, the district's progress under Mission YUVA was found satisfactory on several parameters. The Joint Director appreciated the efforts of the district team and emphasized the need for continued coordination among all stakeholders to achieve the objectives of self-employment generation and entrepreneurship development.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment from all stakeholders to work in close coordination for the effective implementation of Mission YUVA and to further strengthen entrepreneurship-led development in the district.

The meeting was attended by AD Employment Kishtwar, Smt. Mamta Sudershan (JKAS); Employment Officer Kishtwar, Sh. Vinod Kumar; representatives of J&K Bank; the District Programme Manager, NRLM; members of the SBDU; BHDs; and other stakeholders associated with Mission YUVA.

DC Kishtwar Finalizes Comprehensive Arrangements for Celebration of Urs of Shah Farid-Ud-Din Sahib (RA)

Kishtwar, June 20, 2026

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Sh. Pankaj Kumar Sharma (JKAS), today convened a meeting of all concerned district officers from line departments to review the arrangements for the Urs of Shah Farid-Ud-Din Sahib (RA), scheduled to be observed on June 21, 2026.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed various arrangements, including the provision of accommodation for devotees; power and water supply; rationing; sanitation; security; medical care; transportation; fire tender services; and overall traffic management.

He issued a slew of directions to the concerned departments to ensure the smooth conduct of the Urs celebrations.

SSP Kishtwar, Sh. Naresh Singh (JKPS), assured that comprehensive security arrangements would be put in place during the Urs celebrations. Special police teams will regulate vehicular movement, check overloading, and prevent overcrowding and congestion at designated parking sites. Security measures will also be intensified between the Upper and Lower Ziarat and at Qilla, Kishtwar, particularly during evening and night hours, to ensure the safety and convenience of devotees.

The DC directed the Jal Shakti Department to ensure the availability of sufficient drinking water for devotees and zaireen at all shrines and at Bait-ul-Zaireen, with backup provision through water tankers.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the PWD (R&B) Department to repair and fill potholes, if any, on the road stretch from Upper Ziarat to Lower Ziarat to avoid inconvenience to commuters.

The Executive Officer, Municipal Council Kishtwar, was directed to ensure cleanliness and lime-lining around both shrines and along all lanes and drains leading to the Ziarats well in advance. He was further directed to undertake desilting and cleaning of drains around the shrines and throughout Kishtwar town and its peripheral areas. Separate mobile toilet units for males and females will also be installed at both Ziarats and other required locations.

The ARTO, DTI, and Police Administration were instructed to regulate traffic smoothly and arrange additional buses, if required, for the to-and-fro movement of devotees. They were also directed to ensure that no vehicle plies on the main road from Upper Ziarat to Lower Ziarat from 20.06.2026 to 21.06.2026. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to park or stop for loading and unloading on the stretch from Upper Ziarat to Lower Ziarat and from the Bus Stand to the Dak Bungalow during the same period.

JPDCL Kishtwar was directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply at both shrines, accommodation areas, designated sites for devotees, and across Kishtwar town and adjoining areas. It was further instructed that there should be no power curtailment for two days during the Urs celebrations.

Arrangements for DG sets at both shrines will also be made by the ExEn, JPDCL Kishtwar, as standby power backup to ensure uninterrupted illumination and the smooth conduct of the event.

The Health Department, Kishtwar, was directed to establish first-aid medical camps near both Ziarats from 20.06.2026 to 21.06.2026, with Medical Officers and supporting staff. Ambulances will also remain stationed near Dak Bungalow and Hidyal Chowk, Kishtwar, to meet any medical emergency.

The DC directed the Department of FCS&CA, Kishtwar, to conduct surprise inspections to check the rates of meat, poultry, dairy products, and other essential commodities.

The DC directed the committee already constituted under the leadership of the Tehsildar, Kishtwar, for market checking to maintain a daily roster and submit daily reports indicating the number of shops inspected and challaned.

The Majlis-e-Shoura Committee, Kishtwar, led by Imam Sahib Jamia Masjid Kishtwar, Jenab Farooq Ahmed Kichloo, along with other members and representatives of Auqaf Kishtwar, also highlighted several issues. The Deputy Commissioner gave them a patient hearing, issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers, and assured every possible support from the District Administration.
