Kalimpong Kitchen has opened one week ago, and Chunu has proved to be full of energy and ideas. So far, she has created her own Kalimpong Coffee Brew, and a Guava Cake! That one is so fresh, it hasn't even made it to the brand-new Kalimpong Kitchen Menu yet. Luisa has already left Kalimpong a few days ago, and from now on also I (Svenja) will spend more and more time out of town. So Kalimpong Kitchen truly will be Chunu's Restaurant. May she be very happy and successful with it!

We managed to open Chunu's small restaurant at Losar with that impressive cake buffet. All the equipment has been paid for with your generous donations. There is however still need for financial support with the rent and electricity until we get known and the German-cakes-on-order idea etc. generate profit. We really are a bit off the beaten track. Happy Losar, Everybody !

These are the cakes we made yesterday. Was not easy with those two power cuts. But we managed. And you will have to wait for another five hours until we officially open Kalimpong Kitchen.

Yesss! It has come, and just in time: Kalimpong Coffee.

As I had to wait for the coffee to be packed, then took a taxi home and then immediately set about brewing it, I am probably one of the very first customers to taste it. Not before offering the first sip to Mahakala, of course, it being the last day of Mahakala puja.

So how is it?

We will serve it in Kalimpong Kitchen - Come and taste for yourselves ;)

Chunu will open her restaurant cm cafe in two days, on the first day of the Tibetan Fire-Bird year. May her start-up have an auspicious beginning, continuous growing, and no ending soon!

Today is the Birthday of the King of Bhutan! ཁྱེད་ཀྱི་འཁྲུངས་སྒར་ལ་བཀྲ་ཤིས་བདེ་ལེགས་རྒྱལ་པོ་ལགས།
So Chunu made a delicious banana cake and distributed it to our shedra monks :)

Tonight one woman with a very big heart served delicious food to fourteen of these tiny monks!
Tomorrow the monks from Takdah will return and Chunu said "I felt so sad if they leave and I haven't cook for them." So yes, we had a feast! And even homemade ice cream afterwards ;)
