Anjini Initiative pays a tribute to Dr. Graham's Homes for completing 125 glorious years.
“Cottage Echoes: 125 Years at Homes”
On those Deolo‑kissed slopes where morning mists softly play,
Nestled among rhododendron bloom, stands Homes, come what may.
A dream borne from Graham’s heart—a refuge, steadfast and kind—
Where children once lost found shelter, hope, and peace of mind.
From the first cottage rising through the Himalayan air,
Woodburn, Elliott, Calcutta and many more—they sprang up, fair and rare.
With chapel chime and dorm’s warm glow, schoolrooms taught with care,
A tapestry of love was woven—each child’s hopes laid bare.
Through two world wars and revolutions, through decades worn and new,
Homes grew, adapted, opened arms to souls of every hue.
Children from tea‑garden homes, refugees from distant lands,
Found nurturing in every branch, in every home‑grown stand.
“Fagged out” by dusk, yet laughter bouncing in “Achoo” and “Chopsy” cheers,
In “Tharjay’s” pranks and “Wack” stolen toffee smears.
In newest of promsies, students chasing for golden dawn;
In quiet corners, whispered dreams, and friendships forged and drawn.
In campus breeze and chapel choir, in every passing class,
Lives were shaped, hearts learned to care, and memories came amass.
Now 125 years shine bright—quasquicentennial joy unfurls,
Of old traditions, new beginnings, shared stories, boys and girls.
Here’s to every teacher’s guiding hand, every parent’s gentle way,
Every student past and present who found Homes' heart to stay.
May Homes stand proud and thorough in future days, its spirit ever strong—
A sanctuary of learning, laughter, love, and lifelong song.
With chapel light and cottage doors, with history in each stone,
Homes lives on—in hearts, in time—as many Homes‑hearts still at home.

'Where The Mind Is Without Fear' by Rabindranath Tagore
Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by thee
Into ever-widening thought and action
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
Happy Independence Day to everyone!!
