but because nobody ever explained why these sentences are wrong.

At the Grammar Workshop — Tenses, we don't ask children to memorise rules and hope they stick.
We help them understand tenses logically, clearly and in a way that actually makes sense.
Because when a child understands why we use a particular tense, they stop making the mistake naturally.
