For a Type 1 diabetic patient in the dental chair, three clinically important must checks are

- Always keep a sugar beverage or eatable at office - hypoglycemia is very common. (they might need in small restorations also)

- Ketosis or diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) warning signs
* Excessive thirst, frequent urination, frequent feel of spiting, nausea.
* This is a medical emergency. Do not proceed with elective dental treatment—refer for urgent medical evaluation.

- keep a Glucometer always and avoid long appointments.
