‘Mool’ is a Hindi word that roughly translates to root, essence, fundamental, basic. The name ‘Mool’ is a living tribute to Late Mr. Y. K. Bhatt.

The Mool* Foundation is an interactive platform for visual and applied arts with a cafeteria serving great coffee pairing with delicious food to refresh your soul. As an architect, planner, artist, sculptor, photographer, traveller and a thinker, his life and work displayed an uncanny ability of always getting to the fundamental (root) issues around any problem, idea, thought or action. The founda

tion is situated in a beautiful house in Jaipur,
built by Mr. Bhatt for himself to live in, which now functions as a space and a forum to promote and
bring together architecture, design and various forms of creative art. At Mool we curate, conceptualize and organize exhibitions, workshops, discussions and presentations in an attempt to bring a flavor of design an art in everyone's lives! The Mool* Foundation is an interactive platform for design, visual and applied arts. It is a space that provides opportunities for the public at large, to participate and engage with the evolving world of visual and applied arts. Art always has induced life and been an inspiration to Design at all levels – urban built forms, marvels of engineering, landscapes, both exterior and interior spaces and products created by the design professionals. Though it is not easy to tell where one ends and the other begins, however in this era of specialization, Design is recognized and practiced as a creative output of trained minds which is planned and structured, which serves a specific purpose. On the other hand Art is mostly understood and perceived as an individual’s expression of emotions and representation of ‘stuff of life’ in various techniques, forms and styles. Our endeavor at Mool Foundation is to support, showcase and promote all forms of creative work and innovative ways to further dilute the thin line that surface up time and again between Art & Design. The series of exhibitions, lectures, workshops and panel discussions organized by the Mool Foundation creates unique opportunities for visitors to view, experience, discuss, and interpret innovative as well as historic art & design ideas and practices. Visitors to the foundation can expect to participate in diverse programs and exhibitions in ceramics, drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, design, crafts, photography, video, architecture, industrial design, graphic design, interior design and decorative art.
