AJANTA CAVES
Though the caves are more than 2,000 years old, the Buddha statues had been added close 600 years later.
ELLORA CAVES
The 34 "caves" are actually structures excavated out of the vertical face of the Charanandri hills.
- Ellora is famous for Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain cave temples built during (6th and 9th centuries) the rule of the Kalachuri, Chalukya and Rashtrakuta dynasties.
- The five Jain caves at Ellora belong to the 9th and 10th centuries. They all belong to the Digambara sect.
AGRA FORT
Agra Fort is much devastated till date. The gold and ruby plated walls, gems embedded on them and all the luxurious and lavish Mughal decorations was dismantled and looted by the Britishers.
TAJ MAHAL
Legend says that Emperor Shah Jahan intended to build another Taj Mahal in black marble across the river but a war with his sons interrupted these plans.
KONARK TEMPLE
The Spokes of Each Wheel Each structure built in Konark Sun Temple represents the passage of time. Each wheel here has 8 spokes, each representing a 'prahar' which is a 3-hour period, adding up to 24 hours which is a day.
KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK
The park boasts one of the highest density of tigers in India with 21 tigers per 100 sq km, more than that of even Corbett National Park and Bandipur National Park.
HAMPI
- Hampi was originally called Pampa-Kshetra after Hindu Deity Pampa (another name of Goddess Parvati).It is believed in Hindu mythology that Goddess Parvati led the life of a yogini in the Hemkunta hills of Hampi, to convince Shiva to marry her.
