ASIFA India was delighted to participate in the Chitkara International Animation Film Festival (CHIAFF) 2026 at Chitkara Design School.
ASIFA India President Sanjay Khimesara joined the festival as a Speaker & Panelist for the engaging session “Pixels & Policy.”

Moderated by Manoj A. Menon, the panel brought together Ashish Kulkarni, Nish*th Takia, Riya Arora, and Vivek Nag for a candid and forward-looking conversation on the intersection of creative policy, industry advocacy, and India’s fast-growing AVGC-XR ecosystem.

What makes CHIAFF truly special is its spirit — warm, accessible, and thoughtfully designed to make the world of animation welcoming for everyone. Students, industry veterans, and emerging creators share the same space, learning and exchanging ideas as equals.

This philosophy resonates strongly with ASIFA India’s mission of building an open, inclusive, and collaborative animation community.

A heartfelt thank you to the Chitkara Design School team — Sanjay Jangid, Manpal Setia, and the entire CHIAFF family for the wonderful hospitality and for creating a festival that truly puts people and creativity at the centre.

Third edition of AniMela festival was held from 19–22 February 2026 at Mumbai, Maharashtra. As a partner supporting the animation community, Asifa India, curated and organized impactful workshops that emphasized learning by doing.
Workshops at AniMela weren’t about watching — they were about making.
Guided by masters, participants sketched, acted, drew, caricatured, and journaled their way through techniques that transform practice into skill.
From acting for animation to figure drawing, visual journaling to caricature creation — these hands-on sessions ensured that participants walked in curious and walked out capable.

𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐅𝐀 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐬 𝐌𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢-𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐔 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐈𝐂𝐓 𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐀𝐅𝐗 2026

At Bengaluru GAFX 2026, a nationwide collaboration was formalized with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies (IICT), Mumbai and leading AVGC-XR bodies across India — including Asifa India.
The MoU was signed in the presence of authorities from Government of Karnataka. This agreement brings together associations from few states, creating a unified national framework to accelerate growth in Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR).

• Incubation & Start-up Support
• Research & Innovation
• Institutional Visibility & Showcases

The MoU signing was coordinated by Asifa India President Sanjay Khimesara and it witnessed the presence of distinguished leaders including Ashish Kulkarni (Founding Director, IICT), Siva Kumar Kasetty (Technical Director, ASIFA India) signed on behalf of Asifa India and Harsh*ta Sharma represented for the exchange of MOU with IICT’s leadership team.
For ASIFA India, this collaboration reinforces our national commitment to strengthening industry-academia alignment, promoting research, innovation & original IP creation, supporting start-ups and independent creators and building a globally competitive AVGC-XR talent ecosystem

Submit your animated film of any technique to be a part of the official ASIFA Student Award 2026 Edition!

Participants will have a chance at international exposure, recognition from renowned animators, and monetary prizes!

The winning film will be recognized at a major animation festival in 2026, which will be revealed closer to the award date. Additional screenings will be arranged after the initial award screening with partner festivals and schools.
