Terracotta screens, layered plantations and sculptural elements come together to shape this terrace as a quiet outdoor room.

The terrace, designed as an extension to an existing bungalow, has evolved through layers of a vibrant yellow structure, terracotta blocks screening and plantation - balancing privacy, ventilation and shade.

Set amidst an urban setting, Terracotta Tetris was shaped by context, function, and intent.
Through layered iterations, the layout evolved—defining how the terrace would breathe, connect, and belong.
Here's a look at how the final layout emerged.
•Terracotta Tetris•
Situated within an urban setting of Indore, Terracotta Tetris is a thoughtful landscape intervention. The project takes its name from the playful yet organic arrangement of terracotta blocks that form part of a vertical screen, designed to ensure privacy for the terrace.

Within the modest footprint of the row house, the interior transformation was guided by adaptability.
Modular furniture, movable elements, and lightweight materials make it easy to reconfigure the space — from focused work to collaborative discussions.
As the studio sits within a rented space, most interventions were conceived to be dismantled and reassembled elsewhere — a design approach rooted in flexibility and continuity.

The modest entry verandah to the studio has been reimagined as a welcoming threshold to the studio.
A fresh, muted palette, subtle detailing, warm lighting and an addition of greens transformed the space into an inviting pause — a small yet meaningful transition between the street and the workspace within.

Tucked within a quiet neighbourhood in Indore, the studio space for Studio Adept occupies a long, narrow row house. Conceived as a live–work unit, the ground floor functions as the primary workspace, while the upper level houses the architect’s residence.
Given the site’s modest width of just 3.3 metres, the internal layout was carefully planned to accommodate the studio’s functional needs while maintaining a sense of openness and warmth.
