A visit to Gold Coin Old Age Home was an experience for our students of Sherringwood World School in association with Sherringwood Foundation.
It’s an immense state of grief that there has arisen need for old age homes in modern times. Why do we need these homes ? Why are we considering our older relatives as a burden to us ?
With these questions in mind our Sherringwood student and teacher volunteers went to Gold Coin Old age Home. We met the senior citizens and played a lot of games with them, had a paint session with them. Followed by the session we sang bhajans on instruments. We also served them sweets.
All of them have their own children but they left them due to the generation gap.
Main motive of the visit by the Sherringwood Foundation team was to find out the problems, solve them with the help of the volunteers.
The other motive of the visit to meet them so they don’t feel they’re alone.
Through this visit student and teacher volunteers got some perspective about:
* How the old age home was managed in good condition ?
* Idea about the resources of the old age home.
* Inspiration from the owner of the old age home for tackling such issues.
* Volunteers gave a thought to contribute for improving condition of such places and for ensuring to bring a well responsible society in existence.
