Baarish ka Ek Din
A few months ago, We began introducing children’s literature to the Pardhi children we work with to nurture their love for reading and open spaces for imagination, care, and emotional expression.
This story, Baarish ka Ek Din — written by a 13-year-old Pardhi boy and published by Muskaan (Bhopal) became a mirror for the children. It reflected their own experiences of rain, fear, and courage.
Through a simple idea of a magic bag, something to keep safe when everything is floating away, children spoke about what truly matters to them. From phones and marbles to drawings of homes, friends, and family, their stories moved from material things to feelings of safety and belonging.
That afternoon reminded me that stories don’t just build imagination, they create a space where children can be seen, heard, and held.
