MMWO Appreciates the Governmentβs Step
Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) sincerely appreciates the Government of Manipur for taking a considered and timely step regarding the constitution of the 8th Waqf Board, Manipur.
The Governmentβs decision to accept the resignation of two members and to address the concerns arising from the inclusion of non-Muslim members in the Waqf Board is viewed positively by the Meitei Pangal community. We believe that the Waqf Board is an institution entrusted with the protection and proper management of Muslim religious and charitable endowments, and therefore its composition should respect the sentiments and legitimate expectations of the Muslim community.
MMWO expresses its heartfelt appreciation to the Honβble Chief Minister, Shri Y. Khemchand Singh, for listening to the concerns of the people and taking this step in the interest of justice, harmony and public confidence.
The Meitei Pangal community warmly welcomes and appreciates this initiative and hopes that the Government will continue to work with fairness, transparency and sensitivity towards the aspirations of all communities in Manipur.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE
The Manipur Meitei-Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) expresses its deepest condolences on the sad demise of Mohammed Ziaul Haque @ Suraj, General Secretary of Minuthong Hatta Golapati Athletic Union (MHGAU), Imphal East.
He was a dedicated member of his club and society, and his valuable contributions and commitment to the community will always be remembered.
At this time of profound grief, MMWO extends its heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family, friends, colleagues, and members of MHGAU.
May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, grant him Jannatul Firdaus, and give strength and patience to his family to bear this irreparable loss. Ameen.

Today, marking the historic date of August 14, 1947βthe day the British departed and Manipur reclaimed its sovereigntyβthe MMWO observed Manipur's Independence Day with a solemn ceremony. To honor this legacy, the National Flag of Manipur was hoisted at the Organizationβs Head Quarters.
During the observance, MA Chesaba, President of MMWO, addressed the gathering. He emphasized that todayβs generation must remember the profound sacrifices made by our forefathers, who defended the territorial integrity and borders of our motherland against numerous adversaries. He stressed that it is our collective duty to follow the footsteps of our Unsung Heroes and legendary leaders who stood firm for the nation.
Regarding the WAQF BOARD MANIPUR:
The Organization expresses deep concern and disappointment regarding the recent formation of the Waqf Board Manipur Committee. The inclusion of non-Muslim members in this specific religious administrative body is highly unfortunate and unacceptable.
We strongly urge the present Government to review this decision and withdraw the current appointments immediately to respect the religious sanctity and administrative norms of the Board.

On Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, the Manipur Meitei-Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) organized a reception ceremony to warmly welcome the newly appointed Assistant Commandant of the Border Security Force (BSF), Mohammad Mueinuddin Moijing Mayum. The reception took place at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal. Mohammad Mueinuddin, a resident of Thoubal Moijing Awang Leikai, was received by the officials of MMWO. Prayers and well-wishes were expressed for him to serve the motherland with sincere dedication and integrity in the days to come.
