The Battle of Khongjom, fought on April 23, 1891, was the final and most significant battle of the -Manipur War 1891, where outnumbered Manipuri forces, led by Major , made a heroic last stand against the British Army at Kheba Hills. While resulting in a British victory and the subsequent colonization of Manipur, the battle is remembered as a supreme sacrifice, honored annually as Khongjom Day.
