Former CM N. Biren Singh Proposes Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh to Lead Formation of Popular Government in Manipur

In a major political development, former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has proposed Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh to lead the formation of a new popular government in Manipur.

The proposal came during a meeting of BJP legislators held yesterday at Manipur Bhavan, New Delhi, which was attended by 27 BJP MLAs. During the meeting, N. Biren Singh distanced himself from the race for the Chief Minister’s post, expressing support for the Speaker to take charge of leading the new government.

The BJP MLAs are scheduled to meet Sambit Patra, the BJP’s in-charge for Manipur, in Delhi today to discuss the proposal and push for government formation under the leadership of Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh.
