Getting your experience right is essential in order to meet the needs and expectations of your users. A bad experience can be costly and damaging to the future success of your product. At HCDNOW, we think about this as the core principle of Human-Centred Design.
It’s vital to pay attention to your customers and their experiences of using your product early in the development of your idea. Even when you’re at the stage of working with a minimum viable product, the basics of the experience you design should be structured around what you know about your users and their needs. Basically, if your users don’t find it simple and satisfying to use your product or service, they may go elsewhere.

WHY IS BRANDING IMPORTANT?
Branding goes way beyond just a logo or graphic element.
When you think about your brand, you really want to think about your entire customer experience…everything from your logo, your website, your social media experiences, the way you answer the phone, to the way your customers experience your staff.
In short, your brand is the way your customer perceives you.
Think about the brands that you purchase from (Coca-Cola, Wrangler, Apple, Ford, Chick-Fil-A, QuikTrip)… are these companies really worth their equipment, their products, their warehouses, or factories?
No, these companies are worth much more than their physical assets…their brand has created a value that far exceeds their physical value.
A strong brand will provide value to your organization well beyond your physical assets.

Empathy is crucial to a human-centered design process such as Design Thinking, and empathy helps design thinkers to set aside his or her own assumptions about the world in order to gain insight into their users and their needs. Depending on your time constraints, you will want to gather a substantial amount of information at this stage of the Design Thinking process. In the Empathise stage of a Design Thinking process, you will develop the empathy, understandings, experiences, insights, and observations on which you will use to build the rest of your design project.

Nothing brings you closer to the functionality of the final product than prototyping. While wireframes sketch out the blueprint and mockups show the feel and texture of the design, it is the prototype that brings to life the “experience” behind “user experience.” That beautiful call-to-action may look great on the screen, but you won’t know if it works for end users until the clickable prototype. Not only do prototypes help provide proof of concept, they, more importantly, expose any usability flaws behind the wireframes and mockups.
