Mahindra’s all-new SUV, the TUV 300 launched in India on September 10, 2015. The ‘inspired by a battle-tank’ SUV is based on an all-new hydroformed chassis. While it looks similar to the Bolero, Mahindra claims that it is in fact built from scratch. While the vehicle will roll out from Mahindra’s Chakan plant, the TUV 300 was designed and developed at the firm’s MRV facility in Chennai.
The Mahindra TUV 300 will be powered by a new mHawk turbo diesel engine which will reportedly produce 80PS of power. Expect the front-wheel driven TUV 300 to be mated to a manual transmission. The instrument cluster of the TUV 300 is fresh and the steering wheel is also new. Speaking of the steering wheel, it has the audio and Bluetooth controls on it and looks inspired from the XUV 500. There is a touchscreen infotainment system on offer as well. The seating arrangement is made up of three rows, with the last having jump seats. The top-end trim will ride on 235/85 R17 Ceat Czar all-terrain wheels while the lower trims are expected to get 16-inchers.
Mahindra’s new sub-4m SUV will not be a replacement of the Bolero and is expected to give a tough competition to the like of the Ford EcoSport and the recently launched Maruti S-Cross.

Ford India has revealed a sub-4m compact sedan christened as Figo Aspire to rival the growing compact-sedan/notchback segment in India. The compact sedan is based on the second generation Figo (new-gen global Ford KA), which is also due for its launch in India in a few months along with the sedan.[21] Speaking of the two, these vehicles are already on sale in Brazil and were indeed produced by Ford of Brazil for the entire world - under ‘One Ford’ policy. However, Figo Aspire’s length in India is under 4 meters compared to it Brazilian counterpart which is over 4 meters (Figo Aspire known as KA+ in Brazil), because sub-4m cars in India attracts lesser tax duties. Moreover, Ford already had rights for the Aspire nameplate, as they used to sell Ford Aspire in North America.
The new Ford Figo Aspire is based on a highly modified last-gen Figo’s (European Mark V Fiesta’s) platform and will be manufactured in the Ford India’s second brand new manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat, India. Speaking of the new production unit, Ford India has invested over US $1 billion in Sanand facility which spreads over 460 acres. It includes stamping, paint and assembly operation for vehicle manufacturing, body and machine shop for producing engine. In the Initial phase, the plant will muster 2,40,000 vehicles and 2,70,000 engines annually. Furthermore, it will employ 2,500 employees in its current single shift. Apart from this, it will indirectly generate 7,500 employment across its suppliers and rest of the chain.
Figo Aspire in India will come with 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, SYNC infotainment system and sports Ford’s Kinetic 2.0 design philosophy. Mechanically, Ford India has announced that the vehicle will be powered by a newly developed 1.2-liter Ti-VCT petrol engine along with Fiesta borrowed 1.5-liter TDCI DV5 turbo diesel. Moreover, according to few reports, Ford India is also likely to plonk the bigger 1.5-liter Ti-VCT unit mated to a 6-speed dual clutch PowerShift automatic transmission in India. [22]
ColorsEdit
Ford Figo Aspire is available in 7 different colours: sparkling gold, ruby red, oxford white, tuxedo black, deep impact blue, smokey grey and ingot silver.

Country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) launched retail outlets under Nexa brand to sell premium products as the company looks to further consolidate its position in the domestic market.
"Based on the vision to sell two million vehicles annually by 2020, we are starting various initiatives. Nexa outlets is one such step lined up in that direction," MSI Managing Director and CEO Kenichi Ayukawa told reporters here.
The company's upcoming S-Cross model would be the first product to be sold from Nexa outlets.
We first saw the Suzuki S-Cross SX4 crossover at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show in March. First developed and produced in collaboration with Fiat, the S-Cross SX4 is currently in its third generation and for the first time will spawn two separate models with the same naming convention. We in India, for the first time, are also expected to get the compact crossover due to a sudden spurt in demand for compact utility vehicles.
Exterior
The S-Cross SX4despite being a crossover has a very familiar shape that the Indian market will be able to recognise, thanks to the presence of the SX4 sedan that has been on sale here since 2006. The front gets a three piece black grille with the Suzuki logo prominently standing in the middle. The headlights are the same as before but now get daytime LEDs. There is a black plastic cladding running along the base with a bit under the number plate holder and doors in a silver shade.
The side profile has changed slightly from the previous vehicle with the roofline being altered slightly. At the back, the S-Cross SX4 retains a similar profile as the outgoing vehicle but now gets sharper features including a new design for the tail lamps. The silver and black cladding can be seen here too and runs the length of the rear bumper. Suzuki has also fitted roof rails but in India we expect that they will offer a carrier as an optional extra.
Interiors
Suzuki by virtue of being known for its mass markets vehicles follows the policy through and through. This is most reflected in the interiors which look very similar to the ones found on the smaller Swift. The steering wheel, gauges, gearbox, stalks and buttons are all exactly the same as is the case with the layout. In fact, if you were to blindfold someone and seat them in the car, it would be hard for them to tell which Suzuki vehicle they are sitting in. The only major difference is that in the four-wheel-drive enabled models there is a drive selector. The rear can seat three people comfortably and will fold down to expand the boot space.
Engines
The S-Cross SX4 is being offered with one diesel mill and one petrol engine. The oil burner is a turbocharged 1.6-litre unit that produces 120bhp and 320Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels or all four wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. The petrol is also a 1.6-litre mill but is naturally aspirated. It produces 120bhp and 156Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels or the front wheels via a five-speed manual or a CVT gearbox.
Indo-Japanese automaker an entry into the highly competitive crossover segment and with their reputation and service network should do quite well. It is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 14 lakh putting it in competition with the XUV500, Mahindra Scorpio, Renault Duster and the Ford EcoSport.

The first generation Verna hardly made a mark in India when it was introduced in 2006. The second generation model though, launched in 2011, put the Korean car maker right at the top of the mid-size sedan segment. Things went smooth for the Verna until the December of 2013, when Honda announced and revealed the all-new City, the current segment supremo.
To put in perspective the impact the new City had on the Verna's sales, the months leading up to the reveal of the new City saw Hyundai sell about 4,000-4,500 units/month of the Verna. In contrast, November 2014 sales of the sedan dropped to 1,588 units while December 2014 was no better at 1,903 units.
Hyundai hopes to regain some of the lost sales with this Verna facelift.
Top-spec Bolt XT finding few takers despite good equipment on offer; Bolt Revotron XMS is pick of range.
Customers finding higher variants of Tata Bolt pricey
Tata Motors looked set for a turnaround with the launch of the Tata Zest last year. This aggressively priced compact sedan sent customers flocking to Tata showrooms, many of them for the first time. It’s sibling, the Bolt hatchback, launched last month was expected to carry forward the momentum kicked off by the Zest with equally aggressive pricing, but that’s not been quite the case. Whilst the base Bolt petrol XE has been priced at an affordable Rs. 4.44 lakh, the price rise through the variants is pretty steep, with the ranging topping Bolt XT diesel costing a hefty Rs. 6.99 lakh which is around Rs 32,000 more than the Grand i10 diesel Asta (O).
Dealers have confirmed that though showrooms are seeing an increased number and enquiries, conversions to actual sales have been on the lower side, thanks mainly to the not-so-aggressive pricing, especially for the higher variants.
According to some dealers, apart from interest in the standard variant and equipment levels on offer, many prospective buyers are enquiring about safety features on the Bolt. Other than the top XT trim (petrol: Rs 6.05 lakh, diesel: Rs 6.99 lakh), its only variant lower, the XMS trim (petrol: Rs 5.40 lakh, diesel: Rs 6.34 lakh) that gets dual front airbags and ABS.
The Bolt Revotron petrol XMS variant is turning out to be the most popular pick of the range as it best balances price and equipment. In fact, the Bolt XMS (petrol Rs 5.40 lakh, diesel Rs 6.34 lakh) is pretty well-equipped and gets all the necessary features and fitments, including the essential safety equipment such as front airbags and ABS. The top-spec Bolt, the fully-loaded XT (petrol Rs 6.05 lakh, diesel Rs 6.99 lakh) however, isn’t gaining much traction in the market. Although it comes loaded with all features of the XMS and also gets alloy wheels, projector headlamps and a touchscreen infotainment system, customers still are not willing to shell out an extra Rs 61,000 for the Bolt diesel XT and Rs 65,000 for the petrol Bolt XT (ex-showroom) which stretches to nearly a lakh, on-road. It looks like customers are still hesitating to pay a premium for a Tata car, regardless of how good and well-equipped it is. Not for the moment at least.
