Planning for a winter trek in 2020, here is our list of top 7 winter treks that you can do in Nov-Dec https://bit.ly/2GL38yQ

There are a lot of valleys and settlements in that are still untouched. One such place is Markha Valley. This is an offbeat trail that runs along the Markha river, a subsidiary of Zanskar river. Markha Valley trek takes you through some of the remotest Tibetan settlements of Ladakh. You will come across some stunning Himalayan landscapes, age old Gompas, white snow covered peaks and some old ruin forts.

The trek starts from Chilling, which is 60kms away from Leh. You will slowly hike to some beautiful Tibetan settlements in small hamlets of Skui, Hankar, Markha, Nimaling, Shang Sumdo, Hemis, Rumbak & Yourutse. On your trek you will also cross Kongmaru La pass from where you will get spectacular views of Kang Yatse and Karakoram peaks. Since the trail goes through Hemis National Park, it is likely to witness some of the rarest Himalayan fauna, Snow leopard, mountains sheep & other Himalayan animals. The trek is recommended for all age groups as the trek grade is easy-moderate. Keep 8-10 days in hand if you are planning for this trek this winter.

Hemis National Park is considered to be one of the most popular spots in Ladakh. A lot of trekking trails start from this national park, Snow Leopard trek being one of them. Covering the entire Rumbak Valley, the trek takes you to an elevation as high as 4100 metres above sea level. Once you enter into the territory of vast rugged mountains, you get a chance to see some of the rarest and most preserved species of the himalayas namely Tibetan wolves, blue sheep, horned sheep and Eurasian Brown Bear, Snow Leopard etc. Among them, Snow leopards are considered to be very elusive felines and there is a higher chance of spotting them during winter when they descend to the valleys in search of food. The best time to do the trek is in the month of February-March.
