Bandit in Akita
On New Year's Eve, in the town of Oga, Akita, residents are haunted by giant, ogre-like creatures with wide, toothy jaws and bodies covered in straw - the Namahage (生剥げ). They question the children about their behaviour over the past year. To keep the namahage peaceful, the families invite them for a glass of sake.
The spirits, said to be the incarnations of mountain gods, perambulate through the neighbourhoods, shouting and banging on the doors of houses to drive bad luck out of the place. Children, in particular, are remonstrated, and the Namahage pray for the well-being of the family, good health and a rich harvest in the coming year
The Namahage museum tries to save a dying tradition, with festivals, events and more.
The Black Bandit, travelling once again through Japan's northern region, is the perfect companion for our trip to the museum

Bandit in Leeds, United Kingdom
Leeds is a city in the northern English county of Yorkshire. On the south bank of the River Aire, the Royal Armouries houses the national collection of arms and artillery. Across the river, the redeveloped industrial area around Call Lane is famed for bars and live music venues under converted railway arches. Leeds Kirkgate Market features hundreds of indoor and outdoor stalls.
The classic Blue Bandit has traveled far since 2018 and thanks to Siddarth will continue its travels in Europe. Seen here on a warm sunny day in Leeds with a pint at hand. Cheers!

The Black bandit is resting at a minimalist marvel nestled in northern Japan, the Akita Museum of Art. Designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando, the museum reflects his signature use of concrete, light, and geometry—creating a contemplative space that harmonizes with Akita’s natural beauty.
Tadao Ando is a famous Japanese architect known for his minimalist designs using concrete, light, and space. Born in 1941 in Osaka, he is self-taught and combines modern architecture with traditional Japanese ideas. His best-known works include the Church of the Light and Rokko Housing. He won the Pritzker Prize in 1995.

The Nilgiris, meaning "Blue Mountains," have been home to indigenous tribes like the Todas, Kotas, and Badagas for centuries. British settlers arrived in the early 19th century, drawn by the cool climate. They developed hill stations like Ooty and Coonoor and introduced tea plantations, transforming the region’s economy and landscape.
Among the many blooms found here, marigolds stand out. Grown for cultural purposes, they brighten markets and temples while also protecting crops through their natural pest-repellent properties.
Today, the Nilgiris remain a beautiful blend of colonial legacy, native tradition, and natural abundance — and it's here that we find the Red Bandit, quietly wandering through hills steeped in history and fields bursting with color.

Bandit in Dubai
Dubai is thought to have been established as a fishing village in the early 18th century and was, by 1822, a town of some 700–800 members of the Bani Yas tribe and subject to the rule of Sheikh Tahnun bin Shakhbut of Abu Dhabi.
In 1966, everything suddenly changed for Dubai: it struck oil. With the discovery of oil, the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum began the development of Dubai. He started transforming the city from a small cluster of settlements near Dubai Creek to a modern port, city and commercial hub.
Our Red Bandit is seen in Old Dubai, a blend of the old and the new

Bandit in Pune
We all love our four legged friends, especially when they are a part of a cutting edge Design Studio in Pune
The first references to Pune are from copper plates dated 758 and 768 CE, which describe the area as "Puny Vishaya" and "Punaka Vishaya". The Pataleshwar rock-cut temple complex was built during this time.
Pune became the capital of the Bhonsle Marathas in the 17th century, and was the official Maratha capital until the British took it in 1817. The Maratha Peshwas, or prime ministers, sponsored the construction of many temples and bridges in the city.

Bandit in Dubai
We had an amazing show at the recently concluded Paperworld Middle East, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Met so many interesting people from across the globe. In a vast exhibition of mainly plastic made ballpoint pen manufacturers, we stood out as perhaps the only brand to showcase fountain pens made from reclaimed aircraft aluminium!
We also launched our 6 inch scale, 'Mapika', which means ruler in Sanskrit and a inkpot 'Inkie' which can tilt when the ink is getting over.
Thank you Dubai, till next year then.
