Identity is the first step towards dignity.

The final round of hearings for 19 delayed birth registration applications from the Kathkari Tribal Community in Virnoda, Pernem has now been completed. While the birth certificates will be issued after the due legal process, the most critical stage has been successfully concluded.

Over the past eight years, Human Touch Foundation has worked alongside the community to bring children, women, and senior citizens one step closer to full legal recognition.

We are grateful to Shri Shivprasad Naik, SDM, Pernem, for hearing all applications within a short period of time and supporting this important process.

Under Project Nayaan – A Future Seen, our work now moves to the next phase: marriage registration, social protection, housing, water, sanitation, health, nutrition, and livelihood opportunities.

The goal is simple: not just identity, but dignity, security, and a better future for every family.

Project Akarsha Completes One Year | Akarsha Turns 21 💛

One year ago, on what would have been Akarsha's 20th birthday, we launched Project Akarsha — a tribute to a young life that continues to inspire our work every day.

Today, as Akarsha would have turned 21, we celebrate the completion of the project's first year.

Guided by the belief that every adolescent deserves to be HEARD. HEALED. HELD., Project Akarsha has reached over 1,000 adolescents, creating safe spaces for conversations on health, wellbeing, resilience, protection, and hope.

What began as a memorial has become a meaningful platform for empowering young people.

Happy 21st Birthday, Akarsha.

A birth certificate is more than a document—it is access to education, healthcare, social protection, and citizenship rights.
