प्रचार होइन, यथार्थ बोल्नुपर्छ

आज केही मानिसहरू ठूलो स्वरमा भन्छन्
“विपक्ष सकियो”, “अब विपक्ष भन्ने कुरा नै छैन।”
तर जब कुनै सरकार विपक्ष नभएको गर्व गर्न थाल्छ, त्यही क्षणबाट लोकतन्त्र कमजोर हुन थाल्छ।
यदि साँच्चै सिक्किममा सबै कुरा ठीक हुन्थ्यो भने
गाउँ गाउँमा आज जीवन यति कठिन हुने थिएन।
यदि विकास वास्तविक हुन्थ्यो भने
सरकारी अस्पतालहरूमा आधारभूत औषधिको अभाव हुने थिएन।
यदि शासन जनमुखी हुन्थ्यो भने
युवा बेरोजगार भई भौंतारिनुपर्ने थिएनन्।
सत्तारूढ दलले बारम्बार भन्छ—
“हामीले यो गर्‍यौं, हामीले त्यो दियौं।”
तर सामाजिक सञ्जालमा सय पटक दोहोर्‍याएको कुरा
यथार्थ बन्न सक्दैन।
फोटो खिचाएर विकास हुँदैन,
प्रेस विज्ञप्तिले जनताको पेट भरिँदैन,
र नियन्त्रणमा राखिएको प्रचारले
जनताको पीडा सधैं लुकाउन सक्दैन।
आज पार्टीका सामाजिक सञ्जाल टिमहरू
जनताको होइन, सत्ताको रक्षा गर्न व्यस्त छन्।
प्रश्न उठाउनेहरूलाई आक्रमण गरिन्छ,
विपक्षलाई अपमान गरिन्छ
किनकि प्रश्नहरू सत्तालाई डर लाग्छ।
स्पष्ट भन्नुपर्छ
विपक्ष राज्यको शत्रु होइन,
खराब शासन नै जनताको शत्रु हो।
सरकारलाई प्रश्न गर्नु देशविरोधी होइन,
मौन बस्नु नै लोकतन्त्रको हार हो।
यो अहंकार देखाउने समय होइन।
यो प्रचारमा रमाउने समय होइन।
यो आत्ममन्थन गर्ने,
उत्तरदायी बन्ने र
जनताको पक्षमा उभिने समय हो।
किनकि कुनै पनि सरकार
नारामा टिक्दैन
सरकार जनताको न्याय, सम्मान
र वास्तविक विकासमै टिक्छ।

In recent years, Sikkim has witnessed a strange and troubling contrast. On one hand, grand concerts, star-studded events, and visits by singers or actors from outside the country dominate headlines. On the other hand, deep inside our villages, families struggle to survive, youth remain unemployed, and hope is slowly fading.
When outsiders are invited to our land and made to declare our politicians or heads of government as “god-like,” one must ask: God to whom?
To the youth without jobs?
To the parents watching their children slip into drug addiction?
Or to the villagers where money has stopped circulating altogether?

“Leadership is not divinity; it is responsibility.”

Development or Distraction?
Organising life concerts and entertainment programs may create temporary excitement, but they do not create development. Development begins at the grassroots when villages are economically active, when local entrepreneurs are supported, when farmers, workers, and small traders can earn with dignity.
Today, the grassroots of Sikkim are weak. Panchayats lack resources, local institutions lack empowerment, and youth groups lack direction. Without strengthening these foundations, no amount of branding or celebration can build a strong state.

The Youth in Crisis
Unemployment in Sikkim is rising alarmingly. A large number of educated and uneducated youth are left with no opportunities, no skill-based pathways, and no future security. In this vacuum, drugs have entered silently but powerfully.

This is not merely a moral issue; it is a policy failure.
Where are the comprehensive youth employment policies?
Where are the strong de-addiction and rehabilitation programs?
Where is the long-term vision for skill development linked to real jobs?

“When a generation is lost, the cost is paid not in votes, but in the future.”

Freebies vs Self-Reliance

Instead of empowering people to stand on their own feet, governance has increasingly relied on free distribution schemes. While short-term relief has its place, turning citizens into dependents weakens society and dignity.
A strong Sikkim cannot be built on handouts alone it must be built on skills, work, innovation, and opportunity.

Questions the Government Must Answer

It is time to move beyond slogans and celebrations and answer the people honestly:
Why are crores spent on concerts while villages face economic stagnation?
Why is there no strong, visible policy to save our youth from drugs?
Why is unemployment rising despite repeated promises?
Why is criticism seen as opposition instead of guidance?
And most importantly who benefits from branding leadership as divine while the people suffer?

“A government that fears questions has already lost its moral authority.”

The Way Forward
Sikkim does not need gods in politics.
Sikkim needs accountable leaders, strong grassroots, employed youth, and policies rooted in reality.
Only when villages prosper, youth thrive, and governance listens, can we truly celebrate. Until then, applause on the stage will remain hollow echoes against the silence of struggling households.
