Every life matters, no matter how small or misunderstood!
on June 14, 2026, our dedicated WINGS member, Sankha Mishra, successfully rescued a Common Wolf Snake (locally known as Ghorchiti / ঘরচিতি) from a residential area in Asansol.
Thanks to his prompt action and expertise, the snake was safely relocated and released back into its natural forest habitat, away from human conflict.
A huge shoutout to Sankha for his constant dedication to wildlife conservation! 🌿🐍

Following our intensive Anti-Hunting and Wildlife Protection Campaign during Falharini Kali Puja (14th–17th May 2026), WINGS, in collaboration with Vidyasagar University (Wildlife Management & Ecotourism Course), proudly hosted a special Certification Event! 📄✨
Every participant who stood guard for our forests - engaging with communities, conducting naka checking, and spreading the message of coexistence was awarded with a certificate of appreciation.
This certificate is more than just paper; it recognition of your dedication to safeguarding our natural heritage under the Kharagpur Forest Division. 🐾💚
A massive thank you to the West Bengal Forest Department, Vidyasagar University, and every single volunteer. Together, we are securing a safer future for our incredible wildlife! 🌏🦅

We are proud to share the successful completion of eight Small Scale Indian Grey Wolf Awareness Campaigns under the WCT-funded Indian Grey Wolf Conservation Project in Purba Bardhaman.
📅 Dates: 6th June – 8th June 2026
📍 Locations: Ban Nabagram, Purba Tati, Ramchandrapur, Bara Chatra, Pratappur, Kusumgram, Samantapara, Karatia(under Guskara Range, Burdwan Division)
During these three days, our team actively engaged with local communities through:
• Awareness announcements
• Direct conversations with villagers
• Leaflet distribution
👥 Total Reach: More than 300 people
This initiative aimed to build awareness about the importance of conserving the Indian Grey Wolf and promoting coexistence with wildlife.
The program was successfully organized by WINGS , in collaboration with the Wildlife Conservation Trust and Guskara Range, Burdwan Division, West Bengal Forest Department.
Together, we move one step closer to protecting our natural heritage and ensuring a safer future for the Indian Grey Wolf. 🐺🌿

WINGS, in collaboration with Wildlife Trust of India (WTI), Fondation Segré, and the Forest Department, Government of West Bengal, successfully conducted a Stakeholder Seminar on Striped Hyena Conservation and Wildlife Management in Mining Landscapes of Paschim Bardhaman on 9th June 2026 at Divisional Forest Office Durgapur.
The program commenced with an inspiring address by the DFO, Durgapur Division, and concluded with a significant speech by the ADFO, Durgapur Division.
Dr. Arkajyoti Mukherjee, Secretary of WINGS, shared valuable insights through a PowerPoint presentation, followed by an informative session by Mr. Prosenjit Sheel from WTI .
The campaign witnessed participation from nearly 50 government and private organizations, along with esteemed forest officials.
Dr. Arkajyoti Mukherjee highlighted a powerful message:
“The future of the striped hyena in Eastern India will not be decided inside forests; it will be decided in the landscapes where people, industry, and wildlife learn to coexist.”
Together, we move forward towards a future of coexistence and conservation. 🌿

On 08.06.2026, WINGS, in collaboration with the West Bengal Forest Department and ECL, successfully hosted a two-part Biodiversity Awareness Campaign to inspire green action across generations.
Here’s how the day unfolded:
• 12:00 PM | Kajora Area Office, ECL: Over 50 ECL employees gathered to discuss sustainable corporate practices and local ecosystem conservation. 💼🌱
• 04:00 PM | Kajora Guest House, ECL: More than 50 energetic kids from ECL-aided schools joined us for a fun, interactive session on protecting our planet's future. 🎒👧👦
A huge thank you to the Forest Department and ECL management for their incredible support, and to all our participants for making the day a resounding success!
Let’s keep the momentum going for a greener tomorrow.
