Today, October 10th, we recognize World Mental Health Day with a critical focus on supporting mental health during crises.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆:
● More than 1 billion people worldwide live with mental health disorders

● 1 in 5 individuals in conflict-affected areas experiences a mental health condition

● 1 in 7 adolescents (ages 10-19) faces a mental disorder

● Half of all mental illnesses begin by age 14

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗮𝗽: Despite this burden, access to care remains severely limited. The treatment gap for severe mental health disorders in children and adolescents exceeds 50% in the Americas, with a critical shortage of specialized professionals in low- and middle-income countries.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Humanitarian emergencies—from natural disasters to conflicts—create profound mental health needs. Alongside essential provisions like food, water, and medicine, mental health and psychosocial support are vital for survivors to cope, recover, and rebuild.

On September 24, Turacoz had the opportunity of attending the World of Health Care | WoHC 2025 in Rotterdam, organized by Task Force Health Care (TFHC) and Health~Holland.

It was an insightful event set in a stunning venue, especially the panel discussions held on the 16th-floor Sky Bar, with breathtaking views of Rotterdam. The day was filled with engaging 1:1 meetings with healthcare professionals from across the globe, making it a truly international gathering.

The panel discussions were inspiring and full of valuable takeaways:

● Digital Transformation: highlighted trends from Kenya and the use of unique IDs and digital health wallets making healthcare more accessible, innovative tools, AI, and data privacy. Key takeaways included the role of innovative entrepreneurs, the ethical and practical layers of AI, and patients’ growing involvement in their own monitoring.

● Cross-Sector Collaboration: emphasized the need for simplicity, transparency, humanity, and a culture of listening, reminding us that shared goals require shared responsibility.

● Healthy Aging: underlined the importance of engaging older adults directly in these conversations. Key challenges included falls, inactivity, and isolation. The panel also stressed the need for more awareness, since many older people aren’t active online. There’s a clear call to find more practical solutions here.

Overall, it was a day full of learning, connections, and inspiration. A big thank you to everyone who made this event possible.

On , we remind ourselves that healthy lungs are key to a healthy life. Chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) like COPD, asthma, and lung cancer claim nearly 3.9 million lives each year. Many of these diseases are preventable through simple lifestyle changes and proactive health measures.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆:
● Avoid smoking and secondhand smoke
● Minimize exposure to air pollution and occupational hazards (e.g., asbestos, silica dust)
● Manage allergies and stay active with regular exercise
● Seek timely medical care for respiratory infections, especially in childhood

Although CRDs are not curable, medical advancements and treatments can help manage symptoms and improve daily life for those affected.

Day one of the LSX World Congress 2025 event in Boston gave us a great experience for networking. Our leadership team, Dr Namrata., CEO of Turacoz and Sasi Bhushaan Kuchibothla , Director of Business Excellence Unit (Europe & USA) explored promising business conversations with clinical stage biotech and pharma companies and attended several insightful sessions focused on obesity therapeutic area, adapting AI tool in medicinal product development operations and on early stage and clinical stage investing strategies.
