ą¦Æą¦¤ą§ą¦Ø is a work in progress of a solo performance piece exploring intimate exploration of the labor of the dancer and the practice of caregiving. woven together through Kathak, personal recordings, and memories, the work traces the discipline of repetition, a core element of riyaz, and care. Both a meditative practice and a rigorous form of physical labour.
What is the meaning of labor when it emerges from love, care, and a profound connection to one’s identity?
Jawtno invites viewers to witness the endurance, rhythm, humour and resilience at the heart of caregiving and dance, creating a space for alternative ways of seeing the body’s labor across roles.

SPIRAL is a solo performance, weaving together three different narratives in a stream of
consciousness, to consider how women navigate and negotiate, abuse in private and public spaces. Each narrative, while being fictionalised, has been drawn from lived experience, existing in different realities for women in urban India. Rather than being a didactic commentary that preaches to audiences, this performance is driven by active experience. Viewers are addressed directly, when the fourth wall is broken. As a result, they become participants in the intimate space, and conventions of the active performer and the passive viewer are challenged.

Set in Germany during the Third Reich, RAT follows a husband and wife on an ill-fated afternoon as they enjoy a quiet day at home.

Grumpy from the bad weather, the husband launches into a bitter diatribe against the fascist authorities unaware that their child, a member of the Hitler’s Youth, is listening.

Will he snitch on his father? Will he not?

In the dangerous and magical land of Sunderban – the vast forested delta area in West Bengal (eastern India) and Bangladesh where great rivers combine and split before merging into the Bay of Bengal, a region of extreme ecological and environmental vulnerability - living is about a fragile balance between land and water, forest and field, domestic and wild, human and human, human and non-human, calm and storm. As each stakes claim, as each encroaches upon the other’s space, how does life manage?

A one man act which dives deep into the interior lives of men - The Patriarch weaves an intricate story bringing together three points of view, told through three generations of men. It invites, confronts, engages and eventually provokes its audience to question our views on tradition, respect and value systems which are the backbone of any household.

The performance attempts to offer its audience a different perspective- stripping the standard notion that the patriarchal structure only affects women, to reveal a complex play of power between a father, son and grandson. It does not pass judgement, nor does it conclude.

It only lays open new points of view to consider. Told through a single monologue divided into three acts, the performance is staged as an intimate conversation between the audience and the performer. As the conversation progresses from one story to another, the actor alters his body language, posture, voice and tone to transform into a new character, all the while remaining seated.

Zig Zags to Earth is a shadow puppet play that blends traditional style shadow with the use of an overhead projector. The show follows Zig, an intergalactic traveller on a search for a ā€˜miraculous’ liquid. The search leads him to Earth, where he teams up with Dr. Anita to save his planet. The show invites us to step out of the human perspective and suggests a shared kinship with all living beings on Earth.

A regular morning in an urban flat - the sound of phone calls, pronouncements from the vegetable seller, the garbage guy at the door, the pressure cooker going off - and the small space pulsating with the rhythm of cacophony. In this flat breathe two humans, Uma and Urvashi. Uma is a young, 20-something, college educated domestic worker while Urvashi, a virtual assistant by night and a sales executive by day, is her 20-something employer. They share a relationship full of mutual care, gossip, and interdependence and this morning is the 2.5-year anniversary of their employment contract. Uma announces that from today, she will not clean the bathroom, sending Urvashi into a tizzy.

How will Urvashi, who trained to be a teacher, respond to this demand? Will Uma be able to control the narrative? How will rules of caste, power, and hierarchy affect the negotiation? Will their relationship grow or will it wilt under the strain of history?

Set in a society with high levels of unemployment, Mornings of Uma and Urvashi is a drama that seeks to discover and uncover the human relationship between the served and the server and is layered with themes of egalitarianism, desire, imposition and free will.
