2025!

The year that was filled with beautiful people, breathtaking locations, adventurous trips, many hours spent in travel and many days spent on foot.

It was a journey and just the beginning of so many more to come ..

Thank you to everyone who has been a part of it 💛

A few months off the grid, but for good reason we promise.

Here’s a sneak peek of what we’ve been building.
It’s ready. We’re ready. And our annual break is calling our name. 🎄

Special thanks to everyone that’s been a part of this journey, it won’t have been possible without you all!

Lighting that transforms. ✨

This was our fourth show in this space. One that wasn’t built as a gallery, but it’s slowly become one with all of us at DAG and SLOT. Each show teaches us more, and despite the site’s challenges, we’ve learned to work our lighting around them.

The result? A space that stuns the moment you walk in..

Flower of Fire - Gopal Ghosh at Alipore Museum. 🌸

We’re almost always too late to post our work. This was one of our early shows at Alipore Museum with DAG. Lighting art shows is always a new learning experience. First, you get to see all the work up close for days before the audience, you are part of the behind the scenes - everything that goes into bringing the show together and almost always the curators have interesting stories that they share with us that create a personal connection to each show.

As we gear up to two more shows in the coming days, we always love looking back at old work. 💛

Lighting for Art Shows Is High-Pressure ⏲️

You get access to the space just a few days before the show. Everything is done from scratch on site, and we usually have around 36 hours to complete the lighting. Until the pieces are in place, you can’t light them.

Yet setting up a show is incredibly satisfying. Each one is unique—a fresh story that needs to feel cohesive enough to keep the viewer engaged, but not bored. When it comes to lighting, we focus on a few key elements:

💡 Hierarchy: Creating depth by identifying the hero moments.
💡 Positioning: The way the art is placed matters. Certain walls naturally suit larger pieces, especially when we consider the lighting angles we can achieve within the constraints of a pop-up setup.
💡 Variety: If artworks—especially photographs with similar tones—are lit uniformly, the viewer may lose interest, even if each piece tells a powerful story. To maintain visual interest, we have to break that sameness.

So no, it’s never just “the same thing” each time. Every art show is a whole new project.
