EdNet Consultants wishes everyone a 'Happy Women's Day'! Today, as we honour the spirit of womanhood on International Women’s Day 2019, EdNet looks at impending challenges to women empowerment in India. Since Independence, we have come a long way as a society in bridging the gap between the genders. However, there is still a long way to go. Here’s why:
1. Finances
In order to succeed, monetary backing-up plays a critical role. Hence, for female professionals and entrepreneurs, a lack of capital or savings can cause hindrance to growth and goal acquisition. Most often, single mothers or single women have a major issue in procuring loans and financial aid from banks or other organizations. Therefore, consistent progress becomes a distant dream.

2. Patriarchal Mindset
There still prevails a stereotypical notion of a woman’s role in society. Even if women are ‘allowed’ to work, they do not seem to meet the same opportunities or remuneration offers vis-à-vis the men. While we have moved past several roadblocks, there remains immense scope for a wider and more welcoming work-space expanse for women.

3. Workplace Rights and Laws
Towards workplace harassment, paid leave for maternity, menstrual leave policies, equal wages and rights, Indian law and organization’s HR policies need major amendments. A lack of such concrete policies leads to constriction of any woman’s full potential.
