An insurance company has launched a policy that covers surrogate mothers and egg donors. This policy is aimed at supporting the financial well-being of surrogate mothers and egg donors.It is in line with the Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021 and the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, introduced by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. There will be three-year life cover for surrogate mothers and a one-year cover for egg donors, offering protection against any life-threatening complications that may arise from these procedures....

IRDA has some innovative idea which can change the way we look at insurance today. IRDAI Chairman Debasish Panda recently said that the regulator is working on three-pronged approach — availability, accessibility and affordability — to ensure ‘Insurance for All by 2047′ News reports suggest that insurance regulator has plans to make an affordable single policy that will cover health, life, property and accident, get insurers' claims settled within hours, and even secure value-added services such as gym or yoga memberships at the time of buying a policy.
You Must Know: In an accident claim related case, the district consumer disputes redressal commission of Bageshwar has ruled in favour of United India Insurance Company which rejected the claim on the ground that the driver was drunk at the time of accident. The Consumer Commission said this in case of a resident of Bageshwar, whose vehicle met with an accident.

Good news for those opting for surrogacy:
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has issued a directive to all insurance companies to cover the cost of surrogacy under their health insurance policies. The move is expected to provide relief to those who opt for surrogacy as a means of having children.
IRDAI order stated that all health insurance policies must cover the cost of “treatment pertaining to infertility, including surrogacy”.
