For NAO, we played with the idea of travel - through food, architecture, and increasingly, through our phones.

The mural sits within the curved architectural bays, showing a woman mid-scroll alongside the Japanese phrase 舌で旅する -“Travel through taste.” It’s a playful take on how we discover places today - scrolling through cities, saving restaurants, travelling vicariously from our screens -while food offers a rather more tangible way to get there.

Above, woven lights inspired by Vietnamese conical hats follow the rhythm of the curved ceiling. Their layered forms bring another reference to travel into the space, while the woven surfaces filter the warm light and cast shifting shadows across the mural and textured walls.

The artwork, architecture and lighting become part of the same composition — a little journey without having to go anywhere.

From this side, NAO feels a little more relaxed. The deep green tiles set the tone, with warm timber, cane and woven textures bringing in the softness. The patterned upholstery adds a bit of playfulness to an otherwise restrained palette, while the open windows let the outside become part of the space.

We wanted the Asian influence to sit quietly in the details — in the colours, textures, artwork and little moments you notice as you move through the restaurant -rather than turning it into a theme. Familiar, layered and a little unexpected.

The alfresco at NAO takes a very different direction from the interiors - brighter, greener and a little more playful.

We used the brand green as a strong architectural move, wrapping the floor and walls in tile to create a continuous backdrop. Sculptural rattan elements sit across the ceiling, bringing in warmth, texture and a softer counterpoint to all that tile.

We wanted the space to feel green and connected to nature, but without doing the obvious tropical thing. Here, colour, material and form do the job.

Light plays a big part too. It moves through the rattan, catches the glazed tile and throws shadows across the space, so the mood shifts quite naturally through the day.

The collages are our own compositions, made from fragments of the Kapoor brothers’ travels across Asia - little pieces of their journeys folded into the larger story of NAO.

At NAO, the bar was designed to do a little more than just be a bar.It brings together drinks, coffee and dessert display in one continuous composition.

The fluted timber base keeps the lower half grounded, while the hand-built timber grid above takes its cue from Japanese joinery. It keeps the back bar open and light, while still giving us room for storage and display.

Dark tiles anchor the counter, while the illuminated light boxes above add another layer - part signage, part graphic installation, and, quite conveniently, very good mood lighting. Their warm glow gives the bar a presence even when it’s not serving.

The result is a composition where the functional, the graphic and the architectural all occupy the same frame, without one competing with the other.

Every sequel comes with expectations. Restaurants included.

The first NAO, NAO - Next Asian Outing ,had already done the hard part , it had found its people. So our job wasn’t to reinvent it. It was to figure out how NAO could evolve while still feeling like itself.

We wanted to bring the brand into the now, spatially. To give it a more contemporary expression, while making the space warm, layered and full of texture.

The design takes cues from Pan-Asian interiors without reaching for the obvious. More texture, materiality and art; less literal interpretation. Familiar enough to feel like NAO, but with enough of a shift to make it feel like its own place.

There was, however, one part of the original that was very much not up for discussion - The women ( the ones painted on the walls )

Amul Kapoor and Anmol Kapoor were quite clear about that from day one. The women were staying.
We agreed.
We just had some thoughts about how they should stay.

And then came the slightly more complicated question: which women, and what exactly should they portray?
That conversation went on for quite a while, and, thankfully, kept us all entertained along the way.

More on that soon.

Introducing the next chapter of NAO.
Same spirit. New expression.

Some brands are remembered by their logo. Others, by the details. For Narh, every element was designed to feel intentional.

Rich textures, tactile finishes, and refined detailing create packaging that feels as premium as the products within. Typography became a defining feature of the identity, with every product carrying its own distinct font pairings while belonging to the same visual universe.

A system built on individuality, held together by consistency. Quietly confident, unmistakably Narh.
