In loving memory of MP Ranjan, Design Guru and visionary leader to all of us foot soldiers working on Bamboo based design applications.
Almost twenty years of association as mentor, teacher, colleague, friend- Ranjan is responsible for inspiring a whole generation of designers including us at Alaya Design Studio to choose Bamboo as a material to innovate, demonstrate and establish ourselves as ‘bamboo entrepreneurs’.
To us, he is the link to the history of Design in India, inspiring us with his own insights and experiences, right from Charles and Ray Eames scripted India Report (1958) which led to establishment of the National Institute of Design to what is now the current scenario of design practice in India. Spanning a formidable range of interests- from handicrafts to Digital technology to contemporary Design Philosophy, Ranjan nudged, coaxed, mentored and challenged each of us to reach for the best within ourselves.
He continues to be our lighthouse…so long Ranjan!
