Egg prices across Karnataka have dropped sharply over the past few weeks, falling from Rs 7.06 per egg to Rs 4.60.

डा. शेराप भुटिया मिरिक कलेजका पहिलो पूर्णकालिक प्राचार्यको रूपमा कार्यभार ग्रहण

पश्चिम बंगाल शिक्षा सेवा अन्तर्गतका अधिकारी तथा दार्जिलिङ सरकारी कलेजको भूगोल विभागका पूर्व सहप्राध्यापक तथा विभागाध्यक्ष डा. शेराप भुटियाले बुधबार, ३१ डिसेम्बर २०२५ का दिन मिरिक कलेजको पूर्णकालिक प्राचार्यको रूपमा औपचारिक रूपमा कार्यभार ग्रहण गर्नुभएको छ।
यो नियुक्ति मिरिक कलेजका लागि ऐतिहासिक क्षण हो, किनकि कलेज स्थापना भएको २५ वर्षपछि डा. भुटिया पहिलो पूर्णकालिक प्राचार्यको रूपमा नियुक्त हुनुभएको हो। यसले मिरिक र आसपासका क्षेत्रका जनतामा गर्व र आशाको भावना जगाएको छ।
डा. भुटियाको चयन पश्चिम बंगाल कलेज सेवा आयोग (WBCSC) मार्फत भएको हो। प्राचार्य पदका लागि आवेदन दिएका ४२० उम्मेदवारमध्ये ३१६ जनाको अन्तर्वार्ता लिइएको थियो। त्यसपछि १४० जनाको अस्थायी मेरिट सूची प्रकाशित गरिएकोमा डा. भुटियाले २६औँ स्थान हासिल गर्नुभएको थियो। अक्टोबर २०२५ मा सम्पन्न काउन्सेलिङ प्रक्रियामा ११० जना उम्मेदवारलाई विचार गरियो र अन्ततः ८५ जनालाई पश्चिम बंगालका विभिन्न कलेजहरूमा नियुक्तिका लागि सिफारिस गरिएको थियो।
दार्जिलिङको गान्धी रोड निवासी डा. शेराप भुटिया स्व. लोबसाङ ग्याल्त्सेन भुटिया र श्रीमती पेम्बा भुटियाका सुपुत्र हुनुहुन्छ। उहाँले कालिम्पोङ जिल्लाको पेडोङस्थित सेन्ट जर्जेस हायर सेकेन्डरी स्कूलबाट माध्यमिक र उच्च माध्यमिक शिक्षा प्राप्त गर्नुभएको हो। उहाँले विश्वभारती विश्वविद्यालय, शान्तिनिकेतनबाट स्नातक, स्नातकोत्तर तथा पीएच.डी. उपाधि हासिल गर्नुभएको छ। साथै उहाँले एसआरबीटी कलेज, दार्जिलिङबाट बी.एड. तथा इन्दिरा गान्धी राष्ट्रिय मुक्त विश्वविद्यालय (IGNOU) बाट विपद् व्यवस्थापनमा स्नातकोत्तर योग्यता पनि प्राप्त गर्नुभएको छ।
२५ वर्षभन्दा बढी समयको उच्च शिक्षामा अनुभव भएका डा. भुटियाले एसआरबीटी कलेज, चन्दननगर सरकारी कलेज तथा दार्जिलिङ सरकारी कलेज जस्ता प्रतिष्ठित संस्थाहरूमा सेवा प्रदान गर्नुभएको छ। उहाँले बी.एड., स्नातक तथा स्नातकोत्तर तहमा अध्यापन, पीएच.डी. अनुसन्धानार्थीहरूको निर्देशन, तथा राष्ट्रिय र अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय स्तरका प्रतिष्ठित जर्नलहरूमा अनुसन्धान लेख प्रकाशन मार्फत उल्लेखनीय योगदान पुर्‍याउनुभएको छ।
डा. भुटिया विभिन्न राष्ट्रियस्तरका प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कारहरूका प्राप्तकर्ता हुनुहुन्छ, जसमा राष्ट्रिय शिक्षा सम्मान, भारत शिक्षा गौरव पुरस्कार, डा. ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम लाइफटाइम अचिभमेन्ट अवार्ड, बेस्ट रिसर्चर अवार्ड, तथा डा. ए.पी.जे. अब्दुल कलाम आउटस्ट्यान्डिङ भिजनरी प्रोफेसर अवार्ड पर्दछन्। साथै उहाँलाई पश्चिम बंगाल सरकारको विज्ञान, प्रविधि तथा उच्च शिक्षा विभागद्वारा प्रदान गरिएको आउटस्ट्यान्डिङ प्रेजेन्टेशन अवार्ड पनि प्रदान गरिएको छ।
डा. भुटियाले डा. विनोद के. भारद्वाजसँग सह-सम्पादन गर्नुभएको पुस्तक “Human Trafficking in South Asia” (२०१४) लाई लोकसभा, नयाँ दिल्लीले २०१४ र २०१८ मा भारत सरकारको संसदका लागि सन्दर्भ नोट तयार पार्न प्रयोग गरेको थियो। उक्त पुस्तक कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय र पश्चिम बंगाल राज्य विश्वविद्यालयको राजनीतिशास्त्र स्नातकोत्तर पाठ्यक्रममा सन्दर्भ पुस्तकको रूपमा समावेश गरिएको छ।
डा. भुटिया भारत तथा विदेशमा आयोजित विभिन्न राष्ट्रिय र अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय सेमिनार तथा सम्मेलनहरूको आयोजनामा सक्रिय रहनुभएको छ। साथै उहाँ संयुक्त अरब इमिरेट्स, पोर्चुगल, क्यानडा, इटाली, स्वीडेन, नर्वे, स्पेन, इन्डोनेसिया, जापान, मलेसिया, संयुक्त अधिराज्य, थाइल्यान्ड तथा संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका लगायतका देशहरूमा आयोजित सम्मेलनहरूको अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय आयोजक समितिका सदस्य रहनुभएको छ। उहाँ धेरै अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय जर्नलहरूको सम्पादकीय बोर्डका सदस्य हुनुका साथै **प्रतिष्ठित शैक्षिक जर्नलहरूमा समीक्षक (रिफरी)**को रूपमा पनि कार्यरत हुनुहुन्छ।
कार्यभार ग्रहण गर्दै डा. भुटियाले भन्नुभयो,
“संस्थाको प्राचार्यको रूपमा गतिशील शैक्षिक वातावरण निर्माण गर्नु, संस्थागत उत्कृष्टता सुनिश्चित गर्नु, तथा उच्च शिक्षाका मूल्य र दृष्टिकोणअनुसार विद्यार्थीहरूको सर्वाङ्गीण विकास गर्नु मेरो प्रमुख प्राथमिकता हुनेछ।”

Tragedy in Goa: Subash Chettri and 24 others Killed in Nightclub Fire, All Victims Identified, Four Arrested

Goa, Arpora : A devastating fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday at a restaurant-cum-nightclub in Arpora, North Goa, claiming the lives of 25 people and leaving several others injured. The tragic incident triggered an immediate emergency response, with fire and rescue teams rushing to the spot and the injured being shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities worked through the night to bring the blaze under control.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed that four people connected to the incident have been arrested. He also announced an ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh for the families of each deceased victim and Rs 50,000 for those injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced financial assistance for the affected families.

All 25 Victims Identified

According to the police, all 25 deceased have been shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, and their identification process has been completed. Of the victims, five were tourists while the remaining were staff members of the establishment.

Police said that out of six injured persons, one has been discharged while five remain hospitalized and are undergoing treatment. Postmortem examinations have been conducted on 17 bodies, and five bodies have already been handed over to the families for last rites.

Legal Action and Arrests

An offence has been registered at Anjuna Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Senior officials of the Goa Police are camping at the police station and closely supervising the investigation.

Goa Director General of Police Alok Kumar stated that an FIR has been registered against the owners of the establishment, Saurav Luthra and Gaurav Luthra. The four arrested persons have been identified as Rajiv Modak, Chief General Manager; Vivek Singh, General Manager; Rajveer Singhania, Bar Manager; and Priyanshu Thakur, Gate Manager.

The tragic incident has sparked widespread grief and raised serious concerns over safety standards at nightlife establishments in the state.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has announced its seat-sharing formula for the upcoming Bihar Assembly polls.

Here is the breakdown for the 243-member Assembly:

* Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): 101 seats
* Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)): 101 seats
* Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) (LJP(RV)) (led by Chirag Paswan): 29 seats
* Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) (led by Upendra Kushwaha): 6 seats
* Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) (led by Jitan Ram Manjhi): 6 seats

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan made the announcement.

The Bihar Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the results to be announced on November 14. A party or coalition needs 122 seats for a majority in the 243-member house.
