Day 2 of Nurture Nature Camp 2026 brought sustainability to life - one site visit at a time.

Under the Green Guard theme, students stepped into Siruthuli’s field projects to witness environmental restoration in action.

From Valankulam, Periyakulam, and Perur Anicut to the green landscapes of Arogya Vanam, Panai Vanam, and SPB Vanam, students saw how degraded spaces can be transformed into thriving ecosystems through sustained effort and community action.

The learning continued through an inspiring session on “Cleopatra – Life and Times,” where history and environmental science came together to illustrate the importance of water systems in sustaining civilisation.

The day ended with a creative upcycling workshop, where students transformed used T-shirts into reusable bags, learning that sustainability begins with simple everyday choices.

A day of exploration, reflection, and action, rooted in green and growing with purpose.

It began with a simple idea
to help young minds understand the value of a single drop of water

At Nurture Nature Camp 2026, 94 students from 19 schools came together, not just to learn, but to connect with nature, with stories, and with responsibility.

From the story of the Noyyal River to thought-provoking sessions on water conservation, Day 1 was a reminder that change begins with awareness.

And perhaps, the future of our planet looks a little brighter today

On 24th March 2026, Mr. Sumeet Banga, President & CEO, J S Auto Cast Foundry India Pvt. Ltd., along with Dr. Leena Deshpande, Head CSR, Bharat Forge Limited, visited Periyamman Kovil Vanam to witness the growing plantation.

Joined by Siruthuli’s leadership and team, the visit reflected the shared commitment behind 10,000 native saplings, a step towards richer biodiversity and a stronger green cover.

In just a year, this space won’t just be greener, it will be alive.

Policy matters. Infrastructure matters.

But citizen behaviour matters too.

Water security begins with awareness and becomes real through action.

The future of the Noyyal depends on all of us.

Water resilience is built on the ground.

Through lake rejuvenation, catchment strengthening, desilting, native plantation and community engagement, we work to restore natural storage systems.

But restoration must go hand in hand with prevention.

Water security cannot be outsourced.

Next: What citizens can do.

In the quiet flow of streams, the strength of check dams, and the stillness of revived water bodies, every drop finds a chance to stay.

This World Water Day, we celebrate these silent efforts that hold, guide, and protect water so rivers flow, fields thrive, and communities endure.

This year’s theme, Water for Peace, reminds us that caring for water today builds a more secure and harmonious tomorrow.
Every water body revived is a step towards resilience. Every drop saved is a future secured.

Let’s revive our traditions. Let’s secure our tomorrow.

Water scarcity is not only about quantity.
It is about quality.
When sewage flows into lakes, when plastic clogs inlets, when effluents contaminate streams, the water may exist, but it becomes unusable.
In a water-stressed region, pollution is equivalent to a loss.

When we plant and protect native trees, we are not only increasing green cover.

We are improving infiltration, stabilising soil and strengthening groundwater recharge.

In a seasonal basin like the Noyyal, trees are part of the storage system.

The Noyyal is not just a river.
It is a network of tanks, feeder channels and catchments.

When this network functions, it moderates both floods and drought.

When it fails, the extremes intensify.

Restoration is not beautification.
It is water security.
