From Republic Day Guest to Young Founder
How India’s new education vision is changing our children’s future

This Republic Day, while the nation celebrated 77 years of independence, something beautiful happened quietly. Among the 100 selected Young Innovators from Atal Tinkering Labs across India were two students from Kerala—one of them, Madhav A Nair, was invited to Rashtrapati Bhavan as a special guest.

Madhav is just 17. But he is already a founder.

He built PocMed, an app used by thousands. He created PoshTrack to fight malnutrition. He developed SignSense to help people with hearing and speech disabilities communicate better. This is not what traditional schooling usually produces—but it is exactly what India now wants its children to become.

The Union Budget 2026–27 made it very clear: education must move from memorising to **doing

Preparing Students for “Livelihood at the Age of 18”

How PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ernakulam, Is Modelling AI-Driven Experiential Learning
In an era where artificial intelligence is reshaping careers faster than curricula can change, schools that move beyond theory and examinations stand out as true exemplars. PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ernakulam is emerging as one such institution—demonstrating how AI education, when combined with experiential learning, can meaningfully prepare students for “Livelihood at the Age of 18.”

From AI as a Subject to AI as a Skill
With nearly 200 students across four divisions of Class 9, PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ernakulam has already embedded Artificial Intelligence as a subject in alignment with the CBSE syllabus (Code 417). While this ensures conceptual grounding, the school clearly recognises a deeper educational need:

True AI readiness comes not from learning definitions, but from applying AI to real-world problems.
To bridge this gap, the school has adopted a project-based, experiential learning approach using StemClass.

Leadership, Planning, and Institutional Support
This initiative is led academically by Jeyalekashmi Teacher, a certified STEAM Ambassador, who has been teaching AI across all four divisions of Class 9. After completing the theory components of the curriculum, she envisioned a structured pathway for students to experience AI in action through hands-on projects.

The programme is organised and coordinated within the school by Sureshkumar Sir, the ATL In-charge, ensuring seamless ex*****on, student participation, and alignment with the school’s innovation ecosystem.

The initiative has also received strong institutional backing from Sunil Kumar Sir, the Principal, whose encouragement has enabled the school to move confidently toward experiential, outcome-based learning in the Age of AI.

Introducing Students to the Purpose of AI Learning
During the programme launch, Dr Aneeshkumar B, Head – Learning & Development, STEAMCUBE, addressed the students and introduced the core objective of the initiative—to help learners understand why AI matters, how it is applied in real contexts, and what skills they must develop to stay relevant in the future workforce.

This interaction played a crucial role in setting the right mindset, positioning AI projects not as academic tasks but as preparatory experiences for future careers.

Experiential Learning Through the AI Project Cycle
Using StemClass, students are not merely completing assignments—they are practising the AI Project Cycle end-to-end, including:

Project Scoping – identifying real-world problems relevant to their surroundings
Data Acquisition – understanding data sources, ethics, and bias
Data Exploration – analysing patterns and insights
Modelling – building simple AI logic and models
Evaluation – reflecting on outcomes, limitations, and improvements

Each student project becomes a learning journey, not a one-time submission.

This approach transforms AI from an abstract subject into a practical capability.

Why This Matters for “Livelihood at the Age of 18”
The phrase “Livelihood at the Age of 18” represents a future where students leave school not only with certificates but with demonstrable skills. Experiential AI learning directly supports this goal in several ways:

1. Skill over Syllabus
Students learn problem-solving, data thinking, logical reasoning, collaboration, and communication—skills that are transferable across careers.

2. Early Career Readiness
By Class 9, students begin to understand how AI is used in health, environment, education, transport, governance, and business, helping them make informed career choices.

3. Confidence to Build, Not Just Consume
Instead of being passive users of technology, students gain the confidence to build solutions, even at a basic level.

4. Evidence-Based Learning
Each completed project becomes verifiable evidence of competence, useful for future portfolios, internships, and innovation programs.

Measuring What Truly Matters: AI Efficacy
A unique strength of StemClass is its ability to model AI Efficacy—not just participation. By 28 February, the school will have clear visibility on:

How many students successfully completed the AI Project Cycle
At which stage did students face challenges
The depth of understanding achieved through hands-on practice

This data-driven insight benefits:

Students, through targeted feedback
Teachers, through reflective pedagogy
School leadership, through measurable outcomes

A Replicable Model for Indian Schools
What PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ernakulam is demonstrating is not an experiment—it is a replicable, scalable model for schools across India:

Curriculum-aligned AI education
Teacher-led innovation
Leadership-backed implementation
Platform-enabled experiential learning
Outcome-focused evaluation

Together, these elements define what it means to be an exemplar school in the Age of AI.

Conclusion
As industries evolve and traditional career pathways shift, schools must prepare students not just to pass exams, but to navigate the future of work. By integrating AI theory with experiential, project-based learning, PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ernakulam, is taking a decisive step toward ensuring that its students are equipped for meaningful livelihoods by the age of 18.

This initiative stands as a powerful reminder: The future of education lies not in teaching more content, but in enabling deeper capability.

The STEAMCUBE Internship: Engineering the "Proven Founder"

The STEAMCUBE Internship is not a traditional work-experience program; it is a high-intensity, project-based Go-To-Market track designed to transform students into professional-grade assets. Unlike standard internships that focus on observation, a STEAMCUBE internship focuses on ownership and production-ready ex*****on.
As demonstrated by the journey of Madhav A Nair (Class 11, GOLD STAR Innovator), the internship is a vehicle to move a student from technical creation to market impact.
1. Internship Tracks & Focus Areas
The internship is divided into specialized domains, each requiring the student to build, deploy, and support real-world solutions.
Full-Stack Development: Mastering Front-end (React JS), Back-end (Node JS), and Database management to create end-to-end web applications.
Cloud & DevOps: Learning to manage infrastructure on Azure, implementing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring system uptime.
AI & MLOps: Transitioning from "writing a model" to "deploying a model." This includes lifecycle management, data versioning, and real-time inference.
Impact Innovation: Applying technical skills to solve social or enterprise challenges, such as Ag-Tech deterrents or assistive health technologies.

2. Basic Requirements to Qualify
STEAMCUBE internships are awarded based on capability, not age or grade level. To qualify, a candidate must meet the following criteria:
A. The STAR Prerequisite
Minimum Level: Applicants must typically hold at least a 3-STAR (Creation & Integration) rating on the StemClass platform.
Evidence Portfolio: A candidate must have a verified record of building functional hardware-software systems.
B. Technical Proficiency
Logic & Programming: Strong foundations in Python, JavaScript, or C++, with the ability to solve complex algorithmic problems.
Systems Thinking: An understanding of how different layers (Hardware, Software, Cloud, and Users) interact.

C. The "Foundational Five" Mindset
The selection committee evaluates students against five core competencies:
Conceptual Explainability: Can you explain the "Why" behind your code using the Feynman Technique?
Ownership: Are you ready to take responsibility for a project that has real users?
Ethical Responsibility: Does your innovation consider inclusivity and social safety?
Adaptability: The ability to learn new frameworks (like moving from React to React Native) under mentorship.
Documentation: A habit of logging failures, iterations, and progress.

3. The Internship Experience: A Case Study
During his 2024-25 internship, Madhav A Nair committed one hour a day for several months under the mentorship of Joji Jacob.
Learning Phase: Mastering the MERN stack and Azure Cloud architecture.
Ex*****on Phase: Developing applications that supported 3,000+ real users.
Validation Phase: Earning a GOLD STAR for demonstrating professional-level MLOps and DevOps fluency.

4. How to Apply
Students currently enrolled in the StemClass AI Efficacy Model through their schools (like KV Ernakulam) or colleges are automatically tracked for internship eligibility.
Step 1: Complete your Track 1 (LEARN) modules on StemClass.
Step 2: Build a TRL-validated project in Track 2 (INNOVATE).
Step 3: Request a STAR Audit from your ATL In-Charge or Mentor.
Step 4: Once you reach the required STAR level, submit your "Impact Pitch" for an internship slot.
"We don't hire for potential; we hire for proven capability. If you have the evidence, you have the internship."

Conclusion
The STEAMCUBE Internship is the ultimate gateway to Livelihood Readiness. It provides students with a STAR Report that is recognized by CMMI Level 4/5 companies and Tier-1 universities as proof of excellence.

From Entrance Coaching to Innovation.

How One Classroom at PMSHRI KV Ernakulam Transformed into 48 StudentPreneurs.
Joji Jacob, Regional Mentor of Change (Atal Innovation Mission)

In the competitive landscape of Indian education, the narrative for a Class 11 Computer Science student is often pre-written: intense coaching, JEE Mains preparation, and a singular focus on "cracking the entrance." But what happens when students realize that getting into an institution is only the beginning, and that the real world demands the capability to build?

Last year, at PMSHRI KV Ernakulam, we witnessed a life-changing shift that proved one dedicated teacher can indeed transform an entire ecosystem.

The Catalyst for Change:
The journey began when Sureshkumar S K, a Physics Teacher and the ATL-In-Charge, approached me with a profound concern. He is also a certified STEAM Ambassador. He was the Class teacher of 11 Computer Science batch—a group of 48 bright students—who seemed to be drifting through their curriculum without a clear vision of their future. Most were entrenched in entrance coaching, believing that admission to a top college was the final destination of their safety.
As the school’s Mentor of Change (MoC), I collaborated with the Principal, V.S. Sunilkumar, and the Computer Science faculty, Suja P Nair and Ruby Viswam, to design a disruptive intervention.

Phase 1: Conquering the Parent "Time-Barrier"
The first and most critical hurdle was convincing the parents. In the high-stakes environment of Class 11, asking for a student's time until November is a bold request. We addressed the parents directly, convincing them that the skills developed in this program would not distract from, but rather enhance, their children’s academic and professional trajectories. With their blessing, we launched the program in mid-June.

Phase 2: Bridging the Global Knowledge Gap
We didn't just teach coding; we taught context.
University Literacy: We introduced students to NIRF, QS, and THE World University Rankings. For the first time, they looked beyond "getting in" and started analyzing the Computer Science departments of top-tier global institutions.
The Industry Shift: We introduced the global trend of Low-code/No-code development. Using Zoho Creator (generously provided free for a year by Zoho), students realized they could build sophisticated software solutions without getting bogged down in syntax early on.
The Framework: Parallelly, they were integrated into the Tinkerpreneur Program by Atal Innovation Mission (NITI Aayog), mastering Design Thinking and digital tools.

Phase 3: The Birth of 16 Startups
Under the technical guidance of the STEAM Startup Team, headed by Dr. Aneeshkumar, the classroom was divided into 16 competing teams. Suddenly, the air was filled with talk of Healthcare apps, Agritech solutions, Education, Tourism, Waste Management, Smart Home systems, and Logistics tracking.
The students stopped being passive learners and started behaving like Software Developers. They observed each other’s presentations, critiqued UI/UX flows, and iterated their MVPs.

The Outcome: A 100% Transformation Rate
By November, the transformation was total:
100% Submission: All 16 teams submitted their projects for the School Innovation Marathon 2025.
National Recognition: Two teams were selected by AIM, NITI Aayog, for the prestigious national e-pitch round.

Shift in Aspirations: The students began actively identifying their own "coding gaps," seeking out front-end and back-end training because they wanted to improve their products, not just pass a test.
STAR Performance: 48 students were no longer just JEE aspirants; they were certified StudentPreneurs.

A Nation Appreciates Its Educators
The most heartening result of this collective effort is the recognition of the man who started it all. We are overjoyed to share that Sureshkumar has been selected as a Special Guest of the Government of India to attend the upcoming Republic Day celebrations. It is a fitting tribute to an educator who looked beyond the textbook to change the lives of his students.

The Lesson for 2026
As we prepare for the January 2026 Cohort across 39 schools, the KV Ernakulam model remains our "North Star." It proves that when schools partner with industry (STEAMCUBE & Zoho) and embrace frameworks like the IPMM, we can prepare students for a livelihood by the age of 18.

One teacher, one principal, and one mentor can indeed change the world—starting with one classroom.

Is Your Child Ready for the World They Will Inherit?

Why Middle & Secondary School Years Matter More Than Ever

As parents, we all want the same thing for our children:

-Strong fundamentals in academics

-Confidence in learning

-A secure and meaningful future

But the world our children are growing into is very different from the one we prepared for.

Artificial Intelligence, automation, and rapid technological change are no longer “future topics.” They are already shaping education, careers, and daily life. The real question is not whether children should learn about AI—but how they should learn it responsibly and meaningfully.

Learning Is No Longer Just About Marks

Many children do well in exams, yet struggle to:

-Apply what they learn in real life

-Think independently

-Solve unfamiliar problems

-Work confidently in teams

-This is not a child’s failure—it is a system gap.

What children need today is capability, not just information.

What Is AI Efficacy in Education?

AI Efficacy means using AI and technology to strengthen human thinking, not replace it.

The StemClass AI Efficacy Modelling Platform, developed by STEAMCUBE, is designed specifically for students in middle school and secondary classes to help them:

-Understand concepts deeply

-Apply learning through hands-on projects

-Innovate with responsibility

-Build confidence and real-world readiness

How StemClass Works (In Simple Terms)

StemClass follows a clear and age-appropriate journey:

1️⃣ Learn

Children strengthen their understanding of science, mathematics, computing, and AI by learning why things work—not just what to remember.

2️⃣ Innovate

Students work in teams to identify real problems and build solutions using coding, electronics, AI, and design thinking.
This builds confidence, collaboration, and creativity.

3️⃣ Go-To-Market (Real-Life Application)

Children test their ideas in real-life settings—learning responsibility, ethics, and improvement through feedback.

This approach helps children move from learning → doing → applying.

What Parents Will Notice

Parents often see positive changes, such as:

-Better problem-solving ability

-Improved confidence and communication

-Greater curiosity and responsibility

-Stronger connection between studies and real life

Instead of only asking, “How much did my child score?”, parents begin to see:

-What their child can build

-How they think

-How they handle challenges

What This Means for Schools

For schools, adopting AI Efficacy means:

-Alignment with NEP 2020

-Stronger use of ATL and STEAM labs

-Better engagement of students and teachers

-Clear evidence of student growth beyond exams

Schools planning to adopt this approach for the 2026–27 academic year should begin preparation by January 2026 to ensure smooth implementation and teacher readiness.

A Thought for Parents

The future will belong to children who can:

-Think clearly

--Adapt quickly

-Use technology responsibly

-Take ownership of what they build

Preparing them early—without pressure—is the greatest gift we can give.

Let’s Prepare Thoughtfully, Not Hastily

AI in education is not about racing ahead.
It is about preparing children with clarity, confidence, and care.
