Chennai Central is a historic building, over a century old. Designed by architect George Harding, and modified further by Robert Chisholm. In the evenings it is colorfully lit up.

Fun family frisbee at Elliot's Beach, Chennai. The beach is named after Edward Elliot, chief magistrate and superintendent of police of the Madras Presidency in the 1800s. In the background you can see The Karl Schmidt Memorial, dedicated to a Danish sailor who drowned in 1930 trying to save the life of a woman.

The monument in this photo is a memorial to soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War. It is in Pondicherry.

To aid the war efforts, France recruited 800 soldiers from her Indian colony, 500 of whom were sent overseas. There were 75 casualties.

It was not only the French who sent Indians into battle. The British crown too recruited Indians. More than a million Indians were enlisted, and there were 75000 deaths.

#ICHArt: When Singaporean artist @yipyewchong got a call asking him to go to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and adorn its walls with his colourful murals, he jumped at the chance. During his 3 weeks in the city, he focused on painting a single mural on the walls of a residential building, drawing inspiration from what he saw around him. Measuring 15m by 14m, it features images of daily life, such as a tea seller pouring tea and a woman making thosai, among other things.
