On 1st June, 2026, I was conferred the Honorary Doctorate by The American University of Spiritual Science along with three other artists of eminence – Vidwan Shri TN Seshagopalan, Vidhushi Kanyakumari and Vidhushi Pratibha Prahlad. Many congratulations to them.

Grateful to the respected Chancellor Dr.B.Gireesh Kumar and the Committee Members of the Institution for the honour. I wish them the very best in their noble mission and their endeavours to preserve Bharatiya Samskriti by celebrating art and the artists.

5 June…. World Environment Day…. a reminder of our responsibilities in nurturing and protecting Mother Earth for all the abundance that is given to us free every second!

A few years ago, my Samudhaaya Foundation had launched Project Amrithavarshini along with Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI) to restore three ponds –around the areas of Tiruvaiyaru and Tiruvannamalai – Ayyanarkulam, Nandikulam and Oothukulam that had suffered from years of neglect, w**d infestation, and accumulation of plastic waste and heavy silt. Today they store all the rainwater and are doing ecologically well, giving me a lingering happiness.

Under the same project I had sung at Bengalooru for the Puttenahalli Neighbourhood Lake Improvement Trust . A few days back when I was at Bengalooru, I happened stay in a place that overlooked the Puttenahalli lake…and I could not help breaking into a song, happy to see it shimmering so gently.

Let us do our bit whenever we can and make 5 June a day for celebration rather than a reminder of our responsibilities!

Many times, when I catch quiet corners to unwind, the mind does not rest and goes into a rewind mode. Am ever grateful to the two souls - my mother and my guru MLV amma who infused into me and who chiseled me…with the attribute of resilience that has brought me thus far with confidence!

So, when I was approached sometime in early Dec 2025 by Radhika Anand for this commemoration event Guru Vandanam, now in its 8th edition, to be the mentor, I simply could not say NO - as it was celebrating the very people who I hold close to my heart. My calendar revealed that I had no breathing space between a long haul flight from the US for another back to back flight immediately to get into the event. It was daunting…but when you surrender to the Almighty and let him guide the way, magic happens.

Guruvandanam - Team Mohana Dubai led by Radhika and Anand were simply remarkable in their planning of such a huge show. With over 45 music teachers from Dubai and around and 325 of their wards, it was an amazing show of talent and love for Carnatic music. I was happy to have Kanyama from our MLV fraternity with me and it was sheer bliss to experience 'The Strings of Harmony' and Vadya Vrunda under her mentorship.

My student Ramya Srinivasan has shown complete dedication and commitment to see this project through and is definitely a part of the success story.

My one hour concert was planned with choice picks from the treasure house of repertoire that MLV amma has left behind. The accompanying artists Siva Teja on the violin, NJ Nandagopal on the mridangam and N. Amruth Kumar on the morsing and I were sitting together for the first time with no prior rehearsals and they so wonderfully rose to the occasion. The visuals speak for themselves.

For me mentoring, compering for the event, guiding and supervising the live show was so fulfilling. Events as humungous as these take months of meticulous planning and kudos to Team Mohana for putting together a wonderful show.

Our music is definitely in safe hands. May the legacies of the grand gurus continue!

Shri gurubyoh namaha!

As I stand and reflect on my path….from darkness to light, from being a nobody to becoming a somebody, from working hard to gain recognition to being chosen for a recognition, from the closed rooms of my home to sitting in the hearts of my dear rasikas….my milestone of 50 years dedicated to my calling…music has begun its celebration with golden hearts leading the way!

I bow in deep gratitude…to the mercy of the Almighty, to the commitment of my mother Choodamani amma, to the ever guiding light of my guru MLV amma and to my family, organizers, accompanying artists, friends, rasikas and every single well wisher….!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
