Completed reading this stellar book. I wonder why it is not mandatory for students of architecture to read this before they embark upon their architectural education.
The beauty of the book is how it explains the most complex, incomprehensible dimensions of art and architecture in the most lucid way with a slightly elaborate vocabulary.
I was engrossed. I was living the content. And I shall hope to live by what I have learnt and unlearnt while reading this.

History has always captivated my attention. Our visit to the Archaeological Museum at Ropar was nothing short of magical. The discoveries showcased sparked childlike wonder and the actual site of excavation left us speechless.
So many questions crossed our minds, seeing their ornaments, toys, kitchen utensils, tools and even combs!

Sikhs and Jews have shared common threads of violence, unimaginable loss and fury. Here is my slightly opinionated perspective on the design of Khalsa Heritage Museum by the master architect
Could Moshe Safdie, a Jewish, interpret the Khalsa history in the narrative of Virasat-e-Khalsa the way he encapsulated the tragic past of Jews in the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem? Could a Sikh architect have done justice to the architectural tribute to the Sikh Khalsa history?
Read on and let me know your opinion.

When one visits New York City, one could get lucky to witness the sunrise render the skyscrapers in an almost ethereal golden glow. The unimaginably tall buildings are intimidating to a human scale as you feel transported to the "Honey, I shrunk the Kids" movie set. The hustle and supersonic speed of the city complement the inertia of the stoic towers.
Visually, assimilating the aesthetic of the city takes time, as you witness myriad architectural eras, living through the cuboidal towers each sporting a unique personality, each narrating their own design story - art nouveau, modernist, neoclassical, Victorian and industrial. The daunting density of the sky-kissing skyline empowers the residents, almost beckoning them to scale new heights and transcend horizons as they inhabit the world's economic, cultural and social hub.
The nascent glossy volumes of glass and steel with their superficial shine and sparkle might hold your attention for a minute or two but it is the historical edifices that have seen the city grow and grown with it, exhibit honest character. Nonetheless, certain elements have become signature takeaways of the city: the kaleidoscope of visually commercial billboards in Times Square (even if they are a horrific dishonour to the urban fabric), relief by the flora and fauna in Central Park and the mandatory visit to the top of the Empire State building (it is highly overrated). The character and fabric of the city is then a convoluted yet distinct version of architectural and urban epochs.

Drawing with hand has taken a back seat in the digital era for architects. Hand drawn sketches and thoughts penned down on paper are always a more lucid and effortless medium of communicating your visions.
Honestly it was half the reason I became an architect - I may not be the perfect artist but I love to draw! It is so much more fun...

The lockdown slowed life for all on planet earth. It gave all of us time to suddenly realise how much we missed listening to nature, as the earth got time to heal, take a breath and reboot!
I undertook an online course on Sustainable Architecture, thanks to that propelled my thoughts towards sustainability and responsibility.
This write up summarises my thoughts on sustainable architecture and what a key role it plays in its contribution towards sustainable development.

You cannot not know history, right?
We all are here because of a certain turn of events in times before we were born. So when we design, the culture, the heritage, the dominant trends and the legacy, all are playing equal roles in tandem with each other.
Architecture enables us to experience the culture dominant of the time in which it was designed, conceptualised and executed. Ain't it magical?
I wrote this article in my 4th year of B. Arch and got an 8.5 out of 10 by Prof. P. S. Chani, someone I idolised for his contemporary and modern perspectives.
