You start with one race. Then one more because you almost had the perfect run. Then another because the chaos feels different every time. Then another…
DEV NOTE: One of our biggest goals with Cosmic Race was creating that old-school arcade loop where the game constantly pulls you back in without you realizing it. Short races, fast restarts, unpredictable moments, high-pressure situations - everything is designed to keep momentum going. We wanted every race to feel slightly different, so even after a loss, players instantly want another run. That “accidentally played for hours” feeling is honestly one of the best compliments an arcade racing game can get.
The perfect ending to an imperfect race.
Dev note: One of the hardest things to balance while building an arcade racing game is making speed feel chaotic without making the player feel powerless. We wanted races to constantly push pressure onto the player - attacks, swaps, debris, close calls but still leave enough room for skill expression. A flawless finish shouldn’t feel scripted. It should feel earned through control, timing, and quick decision-making under pressure. When a player survives absolute chaos and still crosses the line cleanly, that’s the exact feeling we designed the experience around.
