A silent and almost invisible disturbing transformation is taking place in our villages, which surprisingly many of us are not aware of.
Cultural Heritage, Sanatan Dharma, Yoga, Meditation, Construction of Temples, Youth Leadership & Skills Training, Education, Health, Hygiene, Natural Farming with Desi Cow, Toilets, Employability, Environment, Women Empowerment, Ayurveda, Nation Building. The result of our indifference could create irreversible changes to our rich cultural heritage, religious freedom, social and family values. Our
society, back in India is in serious decline. Our social and cultural values are becoming degraded. Our temples are in decline due to lack of patronage and improper maintenance. Unless we act in time, there may be such changes in the demography of the country that it may be very difficult to reverse the process and our future generations may go through many difficulties. BACK TO THE ROOTS PROJECT is a rural development initiative, focused on maintaining the demographics, strengthening the socio-economic and cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh, restoring family values and promoting education in health and hygiene. Did you know that:
- Blood on our farms: 150,000 farmers committed su***de in 10 years
- 35,000 Temples closed in 5 years for economic reasons
- Village youth would rather be a coolie or office boy than be called a farmer
- Native breeds of grains were burnt and replaced by Genetically Modified seeds
- It is ironic that Indians abroad are more engaged in preserving the culture and heritage than villages in India

Sudhakar Veeravalli was born and raised in India. After 16 years as a successful engineer in the US, he began travelling to various villages in Andhra Pradesh. The visit exposed him to harsh realities that currently engulf our rural hinterland. The situation thus inspired Sudhakar to create the “BACK TO THE ROOTS PROJECT”, under the auspices of Ved Vignan Maha Vidya Peeth (VVMVP), India. With a deep sense of service and spirituality, he spent several months working in the villages of India. He has addressed thousands of villagers and youth about the importance of native cultures, traditions, non-violence, family values, unity, Sanatan Dharma, Vedic Knowledge, health, hygiene, Ayurveda and Zero Budget Organic Farming. He has empowered many villages to take responsibility and become self-sufficient. The result of his work is tangible, but this is just the beginning. We have to expand the scope of the work and reach out to more villages and villagers to create right conditions and revive our time tested traditions and farming practices.
