Is this the silver bullet we've been waiting for?
MNRE has finally barred electricity suppliers such as BESCOM from picking favourites for the installers who can avail their subsidies for residential rooftop solar projects.
This means that if you install a net-metered rooftop solar project via Ibex Solar or from any other small time installer, you will now be able to claim the 20%-40% subsidy that MNRE provides. Previously, in order to avail this subsidy you had to apply through schemes such as BESCOM's Soura Gruha Yojana & wait for an unknown period of time even to know when the installation could begin! Behind the scenes, BESCOM used to aggregate all the customer applications, call a tender & handover the installations to a handful of installers. I'll leave it to your imagination potential issues with this approach. I'm glad that MNRE has also finally realized this folly & had decided to rectify it.
At the end of the day, this subsidy money is from tax payers. It is the government's resposibility to ensure our hard earned tax money is utilized correctly & help achieve our climate objectives.

We've learnt about this day in our schools & is celebrated across various cultures.
This day is particularly significant to us in the solar community since we are so intertwined with the perpetual dance between the Sun & Earth

There are 4 factories in China fulfilling ~40% of global poly silicon requirement. They face some form of extreme (explosions, flooding, etc) outage event every year.
It’s a strange irony that the entire world is reliant on them to fight climate change
