🚨 Pulwama Police Bust Drug Network Under Initiative

Pulwama Police achieved a major success in its ongoing drive against drug trafficking by apprehending a woman drug peddler and recovering a huge quantity of contraband substance in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kakapora.

During a naka checking operation at Okhoo, a police team from PS Kakapora intercepted a suspicious woman carrying a nylon bag. On noticing the police, she attempted to flee but was swiftly chased and apprehended by the alert police party.

Upon search, officers recovered 2.355 kilograms of semi-ground charas-like substance (Bang Boosa), including the weight of the nylon bag.

The accused has been identified as Gulsana Akhter, wife of Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, resident of Lelhar. She has been taken into custody.

In this connection, FIR No. 43/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kakapora, and further investigation is underway.

Pulwama Police reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the drug menace from society and urged the public to cooperate in making Jammu & Kashmir drug-free.

Baramulla Police on Thursday attached a residential property worth nearly ₹30 lakh belonging to an alleged notorious drug peddler in Tangmarg under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act as part of its ongoing anti-drug campaign.

The attached property belongs to Zahid Ahmad Mir, a resident of Checkthan Chanpora, Tangmarg. The action was taken in connection with multiple NDPS cases registered at Police Station Tangmarg, including FIR No. 37/2017, FIR No. 34/2025 and FIR No. 07/2026.

According to police, investigations revealed that the property was prima facie disproportionate to the known lawful sources of income of the accused and is suspected to have been acquired through proceeds generated from illegal narcotics trade.

Officials said the attachment proceedings were initiated after examining revenue records, bank transactions, income details, and statements of local witnesses, which allegedly indicated financial transactions beyond the declared income of the accused.

Baramulla Police reiterated its commitment towards a zero-tolerance policy against the drug menace and said strict action against those involved in narcotics trafficking will continue to ensure a drug-free society.

The growing popularity of the so-called “Cockroach Janta Party,” which has reportedly crossed 20.3 million followers online, reflects the frustration and anger many people—especially the youth—feel over rising unemployment, inflation, and lack of opportunities in the country.

Political observers say the trend is being viewed as a form of digital protest, where social media is becoming a platform for people to express dissatisfaction with the system and governance.

The massive online response highlights how strongly issues like unemployment and economic uncertainty continue to resonate among the public across India.

Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari paid rich tributes to slain leaders Mirwaiz Maulana Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone on their martyrdom anniversaries, remembering their contributions, sacrifices, and political legacy.

Today marks the 36th martyrdom anniversary of Mirwaiz Maulana Farooq and the 24th martyrdom anniversary of Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, the Apni Party President said May 21, 1990, when Mirwaiz Maulana Farooq was assassinated along with several mourners, remains one of the darkest and most tragic chapters in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.

Paying homage to the departed leaders, Bukhari prayed for eternal peace for the martyrs and strength for their families.

He also strongly criticised the administration for allegedly placing Sajad Gani Lone under house arrest to prevent him from visiting his father’s grave on the anniversary occasion.

Calling the move “deeply insensitive and inhumane,” Bukhari said denying a son the right to pay homage to his late father raises serious questions over repeated claims of normalcy in the region.

He added that Sajad Lone, being an elected MLA, should not have been subjected to such restrictions.
