June 8: The Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University, organised a two-day Curriculum Development Workshop to review and update the MBA and MBA (International Business) programmes in line with emerging industry requirements and global business trends.
Welcoming the participants, Chairperson of the Department, Prof. Salma Ahmed, highlighted the importance of regularly revising management curricula and strengthening industry-academia collaboration to enhance student employability.
The first day focused on the MBA programme, including Marketing and Human Resource specialisations. Eminent experts from academia and industry, including Prof. Ajay Pandit (University of Delhi), Mr. Sam Husaini, Mr. Kausar Ali Khan, Prof. Md. Shahnawaz Abdin, Prof. Vaishali Sharma, Prof. Irfan Rizvi and Mr. Ashar Aquil, contributed to discussions on curriculum design, experiential learning, emerging management competencies and industry expectations.
The second day was devoted to the MBA (International Business) programme. Experts including Prof. V. J. Sebastian, Prof. Niraj Mankad, Prof. Saidun Nisa, Dr. Mohd. Nasir, Dr. Mohd. Afaq Khan, Mr. Syed Tahseen Ahmed, Mr. Khurshid Anwar, Mr. Ibad Haneef and Mr. Shadab Khan shared insights on global trade, logistics, digital transformation, cross-cultural management and international business regulations.
Faculty members, alumni and research scholars actively participated in the deliberations and offered suggestions to strengthen the programmes' industry relevance and global orientation.
Concluding the workshop, Prof. Salma Ahmed thanked the experts and participants for their valuable contributions.

June 8: Abdullah School, Aligarh Muslim University, observed the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026 through a series of awareness and yoga activities aimed at promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle.
A special Yoga Awareness Programme was organised in which Superintendent Mrs. Umra Zaheer, along with teaching and non-teaching staff members, participated in various yoga exercises. The participants were sensitised to the role of yoga in maintaining physical and mental health, managing stress and enhancing overall well-being.
A separate session was also conducted for students. Addressing the morning assembly, Mrs. Umra Zaheer highlighted the importance of yoga and encouraged students to make it a part of their daily routine. This was followed by a yoga session in which students actively participated and practised various yogic postures under guidance.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from staff and students and successfully promoted awareness about the benefits of yoga for a healthy and balanced life.

🌱 World Environment Day 2026 at Aligarh Muslim University 🌍
Aligarh Muslim University marked World Environment Day 2026 through plantation drives, environmental awareness programmes, and sustainability initiatives across various departments, centres, schools, and university units, reaffirming its commitment to a greener and more sustainable future.
At Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, the plantation campaign “Planting Hope, Healing Lives” was organised by Sarojini Naidu Hall in collaboration with the Department of Radiation Oncology, Eco Club, Land & Gardens Department, and Wings of Desire NGO. The programme was graced by Prof. Anjum Parvez, Principal & CMS, JNMC, as Chief Guest, while Prof. Anwar Shahzad attended as Guest of Honour. Cancer survivors also participated, symbolising hope, resilience, and healing.
The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Women's College organised lectures and plantation drives focusing on environmental ethics, waste management, and individual responsibility towards nature.
The Department of Civil Engineering, ZHCET, in collaboration with The Institution of Engineers (India) and NSS, conducted plantation and climate action awareness programmes under the leadership of Prof. Amjad Masood.
The Department of Economics, led by Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi, organised a plantation drive along with poster-making and slogan-writing competitions to promote environmental awareness.
Similar initiatives were carried out by the Department of Geology (Prof. Rashid Umar), Community College (Prof. Mujib Ahmad Ansari), A.B.K. High School (Girls) (Dr. Saba Hasan), College of Paramedical Sciences (Prof. Qazi Ehsan Ali), and the Department of Zoology (Prof. Qudsia Tahseen), highlighting biodiversity conservation, climate responsibility, and sustainable living.
Together, students, faculty members, and staff pledged to adopt environmentally responsible practices and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

From the Netherlands: Dr. Sofia Kausar, AMU Alumna and Professor at UPES, served as a Judge at the International Law Moot Court Competition held at Leiden University, Netherlands, and subsequently attended proceedings at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands.

The Department of Law, Aligarh Muslim University Centre, Malappuram, has brought laurels to the institution by securing the Runner-Up Position (South Zone) in the nationwide Reel and Short Film Competition, Frames of Justice, organised by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).
The award-winning short film, based on The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, was produced through the Legal Aid Cell of the Department of Law and was appreciated for its impactful message and creative presentation promoting legal awareness and social responsibility.
The film was directed by Sana Anjum, a fourth-year law student, and produced by a team comprising Afsana, Aaliya, Abidulla, Anas, Shafia, Rahimullah, Shoeb and Aadil.
Prof. Mohammad Tariq, Coordinator, AMU Centres, Prof. M. Shahul Hameed, Director, AMU Centre Malappuram, and Dr. Shahnawaz Ahmad Malik, Course Coordinator, Department of Law, congratulated the students on their achievement and appreciated their dedication and creativity.
Dr.Naseema P.K., Chairperson, Legal Aid Cell, along with Dr.Shally Victor, Dr.Deeba Khanam and Dr. Azmat Ali, Faculty In-Charges of the Legal Aid Cell, also commended the team for bringing national recognition to the institution.

Dr. Aamir Raina, Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University, has been appointed Scientific Editor by Elsevier, one of the world's leading academic publishers.
In this role, Dr. Raina will oversee the editorial evaluation and peer-review process of research manuscripts in the fields of plant breeding and genetics, helping maintain the quality and integrity of scientific publications.
Dr. Raina already serves on the editorial boards of several reputed international journals, including Scientific Reports (Nature Publishing Group), Frontiers in Genetics, European Journal of Plant Pathology, BMC Plant Biology and PLOS ONE.
The appointment follows a rigorous invitation-based selection process that recognises outstanding research credentials and commitment to maintaining high standards in scholarly publishing.

The Annual Hall Function 2026 of Nadeem Tarin Hall, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), was held bringing together guests, faculty members, students, and hall residents to celebrate the hall's achievements and academic culture.
Welcoming the guests and participants, the Provost of the Hall, Prof. Saif Said, highlighted the hall's accomplishments in academics, sports, and co-curricular activities. He emphasized the importance of promoting an environment of excellence, discipline, and holistic personality development among students.
The Chief Guest, Prof. Malik Shoeb Ahmad, Member-In-Charge, Building Department, AMU, lauded the efforts of the hall administration and students in maintaining a culture of academic excellence and active participation in extracurricular pursuits. The Guests of Honour, Er. Mohammad Danish (IES), Assistant Director, Mission Jal Shakti, Ministry of Delhi, and Er. Nawab Saquib Ibrahim, Director, Image Classes, also addressed the gathering and encouraged students to strive for professional success while upholding values of integrity and social responsibility.
The Annual Report of the hall was presented by Senior Hall, Mr. Sameer Khan, who outlined the major achievements, activities, and milestones attained by the hall residents.
A highlight of the function was the felicitation of outstanding students and hall members for their achievements. The cultural segment of the programme featured performances by students, which received much appreciation.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Mohammad Kamil Khan, Warden of the Hall.

June 6: Prof. Zaki Anwar Siddiqui, Department of Botany, Aligarh Muslim University, has been elected Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS), New Delhi, one of the country's highest professional honours in agricultural sciences.
The Fellowship Certificate was conferred upon him by Dr. M. L. Jat, President, NAAS, Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Government of India, during the 33rd Annual General Meeting and Foundation Day programme of the Academy in New Delhi.
An internationally recognised plant pathologist, Prof. Siddiqui is known for his pioneering research on plant-parasitic nematodes and sustainable disease-management strategies for crop protection. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has published over 170 research papers, edited two books published by Springer Nature, and led several major research projects funded by national agencies.
A distinguished alumnus of AMU, Prof. Siddiqui joined the Department of Botany in 1996 and became Professor in 2012. He is also a Fellow of the Indian Botanical Society and the Indian Phytopathological Society and has served as a Visiting Professor at Kyoto University, Japan.
His election as a Fellow of NAAS marks a significant recognition of his contributions to agricultural and plant sciences and brings honour to Aligarh Muslim University.
