George C. Parker was known for his repeated successes in "selling" the Brooklyn Bridge. He made his living conducting illegal sales of property he did not own, often New York's public landmarks, to unwary immigrants.

What is more, Parker was convicted of fraud three times. After one arrest, around 1908, he escaped the courthouse by calmly walking out after donning a sheriff's hat and coat that had been set down by a sheriff who had walked in from the cold outdoors.

Signs that it is scam

1. Scammers pretend to be from famous organizations you know, without any proof of that.
2. Scammers put pressure on you to act fast. They don’t give you time to think before you make an invest.
3. Contact details you’re given, or found on their website, are only mobile phone numbers or a PO box address.
4. You’re being offered a high return on your investment, but are told it is a low risk.
5. Ask to call them back after consultation with family, friends or your financial consultant, if a firm doesn’t allow that – it is definitely a scam!
