גלריה אנגל מתכבדת להזמינכם לפתיחת תערוכת היחיד החדשה של האמן ז׳אק ז׳אנו, ירושלים של מעלה, ירושלים של מטה - תערוכה העוסקת בתווי נוף, דרך מפגש בין פיסול וציור.

התערוכה משלבת פסלי בתים עם ציורי נוף ועיר, ויוצרת דיאלוג בין הממד החומרי לממד הרוחני. פסלי הבתים של ז׳אנו מציגים מבנים טעונים בזיכרון, הנעים בין ארכיטקטורה ממשית לבין דימויים ארכיטיפיים של בית, שייכות וזהות. מעליהם, ציורי נוף כשדה משתנה של אור, תנועה והשתקפות — עיר הנעה בין נראות להתפוגגות.

באמצעות גוף עבודות זה, ז׳אנו מציע התבוננות מחודשת במתח שבין "ירושלים של מטה" - הנוף המוחשי, היומיומי - לבין "ירושלים של מעלה" - מושג רוחני, מדומיין וטעון במסורת. התערוכה מזמינה את הצופה לנוע בין שני הקטבים הללו ולבחון את היחסים ביניהם דרך חוויה חזותית ורגשית.

עבודותיו של ז׳אנו עוסקות בשאלות של מקום, זיכרון וזהות, ומציעות שפה אמנותית שבה חומר ואור, מסה והתמוססות, מתלכדים לכדי חוויה אחת מורכבת. התוצאה היא תערוכה אינטימית ועוצמתית כאחד, המציעה מבט חדש על אחת הערים הטעונות והמשמעותיות בעולם.

We wrote an article about the history of bathrooms in modern and contemporary art through the new painting by Meidad Landoy. Here is an excerpt from the article:

" Recently, Meidad Landoy painted a new artwork as part of his museum series. This time, another space from the Tel Aviv Museum. "Which one" you ask? The entrance hall with Yaacov Agam’s "Procession of Time"? One of the galleries? Perhaps the iconic "Lightfall" of the new wing? No, Landoy painted the urinals in the restroom. When I first saw it, I was surprised, and as I delved deeper into the artwork, I discovered fascinating elements that are not only present in Landoy’s artwork but resonate throughout the broader art world, from modern art to the most contemporary artwork.

So, allow me to be blunt: artists are creatures of “convenience”, they like the muses to come to them. They paint still-life because there are fruits at home, and they search for the ideal landscape through their window.
In this article, I want to address an everyday subject that repeatedly appears in modern and contemporary art - the bathroom. "
